Profile SummaryThere are three principal components of the Primary Debt Markets business at Mizuho International namely Corporate & Public Sector Debt Capital Markets (‘C&PS DCM’), Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets (‘FI DCM’) and Debt Syndicate.The C&PS DCM team’s primary role is to provide debt financing solutions for Mizuho Financial Group’s global corporate, sovereign and supra sovereign agency client base, in both public and private markets. C&PS DCM is responsible for leveraging off the Debt Syndicate Team and Liability Management teams’ advice and communicating it to borrowers in the most effective way possible. C&PS DCM is responsible for knowing the short and long-term funding plans of their issuer clients, their appetite for deleveraging and early refinancing, their need for M&A-related liability and capital management solutions, the issuers’ business strategies, and an in-depth knowledge of their credit metrics and dynamics. C&PS DCM is also responsible for seamless co-ordination with Mizuho Bank on mutual clients. The team is highly focused on identifying cross-selling opportunities and enhancing the development of group-wide synergies.The FI DCM team’s primary role is to provide debt financing solutions and balance sheet strategic and advisory services for Mizuho Financial Group’s global financial institution (banks and non-banks) client base, in both public and private markets. FI DCM is responsible for leveraging off the Debt Syndicate and Treasury Strategy and Advisory teams’ advice and communicating it to borrowers in the most effective way possible. FI DCM is responsible for knowing the short and long-term funding and capital plans of their issuer clients, the issuers’ business strategies, and an in-depth knowledge of their credit and interest rate metrics and dynamics. FI DCM is also responsible for seamless co-ordination with Mizuho Bank on mutual clients. The team is highly focused on identifying cross-selling opportunities and enhancing the development of group-wide synergies.The Debt Syndicate team’s primary role is to provide pricing, execution strategy and tactics for specific proposed transactions for Mizuho clients. The team also liaises with other Mizuho group syndicate teams, underwrites debt transactions, executes medium term notes and private placements, manages risk positions and communicates with other banks’ syndicate desks to provide seamless execution for clients’ bond issues. Debt Syndicate is responsible for liaising between traders, sales, DCM and derivatives’ teams, and engages both investors and issuers in the pursuit of cutting-edge market intelligence to provide appropriate execution advice to clients. Debt Syndicate is also required to execute swaps and to provide direct coverage for certain frequent borrowers. The Primary Debt Markets team is responsible for marketing and originating fixed income products across various currencies to their issuer client base which consists of global sovereigns, supranationals and agencies, as well as global financial institutions and corporates (IG, HY and EM).The Primary Debt Markets team in conjunction with Mizuho’s European Loan Capital Markets department is part of an integrated primary markets platform that provides a cohesive Loan and Bond offering to Mizuho’s clients and valuable insight into Bridge-Bond opportunities.Duties And ResponsibilitiesThe Analyst level role within the Primary Debt department is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to a growing business and originate debt products from a range of clients and to enhance group customer relationships through the provision of financing solutions.Main Duties/Responsibilities Include Provide high quality marketing and client support (including preparation of weekly pricing, the weekly DCM MENA publication, pitchbooks and regular market updates) in conjunction with other team members, and achieve results which help the organisation to achieve its core objectives and enhance revenues; Develop and maintain detailed database of financial information (including but not limited to, issuance volumes, balance sheet and financial metrics, credit ratings etc.) and a degree of basic modelling in order to enhance understanding of client requirements; Maintain regular dialogue with the trading and sales teams to obtain timely market colour and investor feedback on primary transactions and notable secondary flows; Build connections with the origination and sales team in Loan Capital Markets as well as the wider loan market Build knowledge on legal documentation and engage with legal counsels in the GCC Assist in the arrangement and preparation of of issuer deal and non-deal roadshows and all the associated material required Support team members in interpretation of key financial and regulatory publications and summarising potential impacts for clients; Work with the team member to develop the knowledge and ability to convince clients of Mizuho’s strengths in its chosen markets; Work with team members to seek and realise opportunities to originate products with existing and new clients, and develop the scope and integrity of core relationships at a junior level within their organisation(s); Support other team members remotely in the London office, and enhance their development; Develop relationships with officers of other group entities, and seek opportunities for cross-selling and building our global Primary Debt franchise; Develop and regularly demonstrate the ability to evaluate the client base from strategic and economic standpoints, and your methodology for prioritising client deliverables; To adhere to all compliance regulations and ensure a strong controls focus in all business activities. Support revenue generation through helping to originate transactions with CEEMEA portfolio of clients and with other Group clients in support of colleagues; Dual Hat Duties and Responsibilities – if applicable* Responsibilities will straddle both Mizuho International (MHI) and Mizuho Bank (MHBK) Adhere to the Dual Hat Policies & Procedures which set out the permitted activities and ensure you conduct yourself accordingly, when acting in a dual hat capacity Responsibility for identifying and resolving where there may be a difference or conflict in needs, between MHI and MHBK, escalating where required [Dual Hat Authority – for Dual Hatted employees only] Adhere to the Group’s Dual Hat Policies & Procedures, regulatory and compliance obligations and any other applicable policies made available to you, and as updated from time to time Qualifications, Skills, And Experience Bloomberg usage; Analytical mindset; Self starter, with problem solving; Experience of working as part of a team. Understanding of bond mathematics and the factors that impact bond prices; Financial techniques / structuring skills; High level of computer literacy, and skills in data manipulation / presentation; Good knowledge of primary and secondary debt markets.
