DevOps Engineer

A fast-growing Ukrainian e-commerce company is working in partnership with GRS Recruitment to hire an experienced and highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join their team on a fully remote basis. This role is open exclusively to candidates residing in Cyprus and offers the opportunity to take ownership of their on-premises infrastructure while contributing to the design and evolution of a modern, production-grade Kubernetes platform. If you’re passionate about automation, reliability, and building scalable systems from the ground up, we’d love to hear from you.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES On-premises infrastructure ownership: Together with company DevOps team design, deploy, and maintain production-grade Kubernetes clusters on bare metal infrastructure for greenfield microservices platform manage capacity planning, scaling strategies, and infrastructure lifecycle.Observability and reliability: Build comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting infrastructure using Grafana Stack and VictoriaMetrics; implement distributed tracing with OpenTelemetry; GitOps and automation: Implement GitOps workflows using ArgoCD/Flux for declarative infrastructure and application deployments; manage infrastructure as code with Terraform; build robust CI/CD pipelines in GitLab; automate repetitive operational tasks and establish self-service capabilities for developers.Security and operational excellence: Implement and maintain security controls for Kubernetes clusters; manage secrets, certificates, and access policies; conduct infrastructure audits; optimize system performance and resource utilization; participate in on-call rotation for infrastructure incidents.CANDIDATE PROFILE5+ years of experience in DevOps/SRE roles managing production systemsStrong Kubernetes experience: cluster administration, deployment strategies, troubleshooting, and security hardeningHands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for on-premises infrastructure provisioningPractical experience with GitOps methodology and tools (ArgoCD or Flux) for continuous deliveryProficiency with observability stack: Grafana, Loki, Tempo, and VictoriaMetrics for metrics, logs, and tracesDeep understanding of containerization with Docker and Helm chartsNetworking expertise: TCP/IP, DNS, load balancers, ingress controllers, network policiesExperience building CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI preferred) and automation workflowsNative Ukrainian speaker Nice to have:Experience with service mesh implementations (Istio, Linkerd) in production environmentsKnowledge of message brokers (Kafka, NATS) deployment and operationsExperience managing stateful applications in Kubernetes (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis)Familiarity with secrets management solutions (Vault, External Secrets Operator, Sealed Secrets)Hands-on experience with OpenTelemetry for distributed tracingUnderstanding of disaster recovery and backup strategies for on-premises infrastructureExperience with multi-tenant Kubernetes architecturesUnderstanding of security best practices for Kubernetes and infrastructure
