The Dietary Aide is responsible for providing a variety of duties related to the preparation of patient meals and snacks, the service of foods, and the routine cleaning of food services areas in accordance with the policies of the facility and applicable legislation.Hourly Rate: starting at $20.50Your work will include:Assist with food/meal productionPrepare trays/plates and/or distribute the patient and client meals and snacks according to the diet list/individual diet menus and the patient preferencesPrepare nourishments and carts for servicePrepare supplements and thickening fluids for texture-altered dietsFollow each patient/client plan of care and communicate any discrepancies to the supervisor in a prompt mannerPrepare/sanitize tables and serving areas for meal servicesMaintain a sanitary and clean working environment in line with infection control techniquesMaintains food handling protocols and infection control practices in keeping with public health practice and applicable legislationTransport dishes to/from patient rooms and kitchen. Complete the daily and deep cleaning and sanitizing of dishes, utensils, glassware, and equipment used for patient meal preparation, delivery, and serviceReceive, store and manage the inventory of patient and food service suppliesEnsure good personal hygiene, with a neat and clean appearance and in accordance with the dress code for the department as per policy, such as safe foot attire, hair net, uniform etc. Follow and meet all pre-determined work routines and schedulesFollow cleaning schedule and sanitation guidelinesCarry out all other job-related duties that contribute to the team approach of patient and client care as assigned by the supervisor. QualificationsWHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and healthcare professionalsHigh school diploma or GED (required by most employers)Completion of a food handler’s certificationOn-the-job training or completion of a dietary aide training programUnderstanding of basic nutrition and dietary restrictionsFamiliarity with food safety and sanitation standardsBasic food preparation and portion control skillsKnowledge of infection control and hygiene practicesGood record-keeping and labeling practicesStrong communication skills to interact with residents, patients, and staffAbility to work in a team and follow directionsAdditional InformationDexterra Group is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
