About Madrigal:Madrigal is a biopharmaceutical company focused on delivering novel therapeutics for metabolic dysfunctionassociated steatohepatitis (MASH), a liver disease with high unmet medical need. Madrigal’s medication, (resmetirom), is a once-daily, oral, liver-directed THR-β agonist designed to target key underlying causes of MASH. This is the first and only medication approved by both the FDA and European Commission for the treatment of MASH with moderate to advanced fibrosis (F2 to F3). An ongoing Phase 3 outcomes trial is evaluating (resmetirom) for the treatment of compensated MASH cirrhosis (F4c).Role Summary:The Director, Diagnostics Strategy Europe, will lead Diagnostic-focused Alliance Management activities and will also support patient and disease diagnostics activities. This role supports the VP in overseeing the growing European Madrigal Diagnostic vertical. The Director is seen across the organization as an expert within Diagnostic Strategy, engaging often with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve objectives. They contribute to the development of functional and business unit priorities, balancing tactical execution with strategic direction. They will interact with relevant diagnostic partners, internal regional and cross functional teams with the goals of supporting Madrigal’s pipeline assets and launched products.This position requires a well-rounded leader who has strong cross functional skills: strategic and tactical commercialization experience in both therapeutics and diagnostics. The ability to drive cross-functional collaboration; strong analytical and presentation skills; vendor and alliance management experience; and the ability to execute in an integrated global-regional operating model. The position will report to the VP of Diagnostic Strategy and is hybrid (3 days/week in regional office).Key Responsibilities and Primary Activities: The Director leads efforts within European Diagnostic Strategy to support both short- and long-term objectives, directing functional priorities while adapting plans to meet evolving strategic objectives.Disease Diagnostics Pathway Project Plan and Implementation:Develop a deep understanding of liver-related diagnostic modalities, their underlying technology or science, and utility in the management of patients with metabolic-associated steatotic liver diseaseLead interactions with key external (e.g., alliance partners, diagnostic partners, testing laboratories) stakeholders to develop programs and manage diagnostics objectives in alignment with the European launch plan for resmetirom; May also provide support for global launch activities, as needed Manages project programs with key diagnostic partners, manages project plans, and ensures that deliverables are on time and in line with contracted termsProvide diagnostic domain expertise to internal cross-functional and regional teams (e.g., medical affairs, commercial) in support use, adoption, and implementation of diagnostic strategies/pathways in the clinicAide in the development and deployment of diagnostic-focused educational materials to support field training efforts Support acquisition, analysis, and communication of competitive intelligence and field insights related to diagnostics to inform strategy and tactical project plans Support due diligence on diagnostics/ biomarkers with potential to be used to select patients in the future and related assay development efforts for drug launch planningAttend all medical meetings as directed by management; attend live conferences and/or programs as necessary as a Madrigal representative.Team Leadership & DevelopmentLead without authority as European diagnostic subject matter expertAlign Diagnostic Strategy activities with strategic objectives and tactical plansCross-functional CollaborationSupport the interactions with key internal and external (e.g., alliance partners, diagnostic partners, testing laboratories) stakeholders to develop programs and manage diagnostics objectives in alignment with the global expansion plan for Madrigal’s pipeline assets and in-market productsFacilitate communication with internal cross-functional and regional teams, external vendors, diagnostic partners, or collaboratorsContribute to launch readiness and lifecycle management strategiesManages project programs with key partners and vendors, manages project plans, and ensures that deliverables are on time and in line with contracted termsCongress & External EngagementContribute to medical congresses, as needed/requestedCompliance & QualityEnsure all activities comply with company SOPs, industry standards, and applicable regulationsUphold the highest ethical standards in all external engagementsTravel RequirementTravel up to 25% for congresses, site visits, key leadership meetings, and stakeholder engagementRequired Qualifications, Skills & Experience:Advanced degree in a scientific or healthcare discipline (BSc, MD, PharmD, PhD, DNP, etc.)12–15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or diagnostics industry, including extensive experience in DiagnosticsStrong networking capabilities including existing relationships with diagnostics companiesProven ability to understand, communicate, and translate complex scientific informationStrong knowledge of EU healthcare systems, global regulatory standards (e.g., EU/CE), and medical affairs compliance standardsDemonstrated cross-functional collaboration, project execution, and strategic planning skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom), and CRM systems (e.g., Veeva)Preferred Attributes:Advanced Clinical/Scientific degree (e.g., PhD, MA) is preferredPrior experience working with a diagnostics company in the development, validation, or implementation of diagnostics to support the development and commercialization of therapeuticsIn-depth knowledge of clinical medicine and medical research; experience in cardiometabolic health, or MASH/NASH preferredStrong interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skillsAdaptable and proactive in a fast-paced, evolving environmentPassion for mentoring, team building, and field-based medical innovationAdditional InformationMadrigal is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
