With the recent Cabinet approval of the Land Activation Program (LAP) to unlock surplus Government land for large-scale housing delivery, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to transformative projects shaping Queensland’s future. We're committed to working with industry, local government and communities to deliver housing, economic prosperity and liveable places at scale and pace.Your Team - Legal ServicesLegal Services operates as an independent professional legal practice within EDQ and is comprised of the Chief Operating Officer, 2 Directors, 5 Legal Officers, 1 Paralegal and support staff. We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and work collaboratively with our internal stakeholders to achieve EDQ's strategic objectives.Your OpportunityAs a Director within the Legal Services team, you will have the following responsibilities:Provide Timely, High Quality And Strategic Legal Advice OnThe planning and delivery of property development projects such as urban precincts, residential communities and industrial land developments and other economic development.The Economic Development Act 2012 and the powers of the Minister for Economic Development Queensland.Complex legal and commercial issues in relation to development agreements and contracts of sale for urban, residential and industrial land.Advise on and draft land sale contracts (including off the plan), development covenants, option agreements, easements, leases and bespoke agreements and facilitate registration of subdivision plans and community title schemes.Supervise conveyancing and volume leasing and licensing.Advise on tendering and procurement.Participate in EDQ project development teams, and where required, lead legal negotiations.Advise on other legal issues affecting the department, including in respect to commercial, construction and property law.Proactively identify and manage current and emerging legal issues, priorities and risks affecting the department.Manage the provision of internal and external legal services to ensure value for money, quality and timeliness of work produced.Manage effective relationships with a wide range of internal and external clients and stakeholders.Contribute to strengthening the knowledge and capacity of managers and other departmental staff to work within the relevant legislative and regulatory framework.Develop the capability of team members and directly supervise two legal officers and one paralegal.Assist the General Counsel with the overall management of Legal Services, including encouraging continuous improvement, streamlining and innovation in service delivery.What We OfferA supportive and inclusive team environment.Opportunities for professional growth and development.The chance to make a meaningful impact on workplace culture.How To ApplyTo enable us to assess your suitability, your application must include:A two-page response to ‘What we are looking for', keeping in mind the responsibilities of the role.A current résumé of no more than three pages.Please apply through the SmartJobs and Careers website.For further information or a confidential discussion, please contact Temony Hillier on Ph: (07) 3452 7853.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/671842/25Closing Date: Friday, 12 December 2025Occupational group Justice & Legal
