In addition, we’ve been consistently recognized as a top employer by Baltimore magazine.Job DescriptionThe Director, Security, Parking and Emergency Preparedness and Building Operations Center is responsible for facilitating the effective management of the security and emergency preparedness departments along with managing staff and effectiveness of the Building Operations Center. In addition, the Manager of Parking and Grounds reports to this position.GOALS AND BUDGET: Develops annual goals and objectives in accordance with the Medical Center's strategic plan. Forecasts departmental activity and resource needs and provides input to the development of the annual budget. Actively facilitates the achievement of budgeted goals and cost objectives. Monitors budget performance, prepares variance analysis and plans for corrective action to insure acceptable budget performance.HUMAN RESOURCES: Thoroughly and accurately evaluates performances of all subordinates over the past year, in accordance with policy. Always reviews future performance standards/objectives with subordinate prior to performance plan year to ensure mutual understanding of expectations and measures. Keeps proper records (i.e. logs, attendance and skills sheets) on training sessions attended by employees to perform tasks they are not qualified to perform. Accountable for the effective recruitment and retention of staff personnel and overall department turnover. Demonstrates creative and appropriate staffing and scheduling techniques remaining within budget parameter.LEADERSHIP: Adapts to change in the work environment and facilitates staff dealing with work-related transitions. Listens and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of others. Demonstrates behaviors that promote positive customer relations with physicians, staff, patients & visitors. Works persistently to achieve goals and overcome obstacles; takes accountability for results.MANAGEMENT: Anticipates and seeks to resolve conflicts, disagreements and complaints in a constructive manner. Consistently demonstrates team building skills. Makes difficult decisions while considering a variety of factors in selecting alternative solutions. Influences others to achieve goals.PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT: Monitors department productivity measurements and initiates measures to meet standards and variances. Monitors department quality and recommends change as necessary. Forecasts department activity and resource needs and provides input to the development of the annual budget.PLANS AND IMPLEMENTS SJMC SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAMS: Evaluates safety plans and program to determine compliance with current regulatory standards and requirements. Investigates and oversees departmental investigations of all reported safety incidents and complaints in a timely manner. Provides guidance to management and staff involved in safety issues and facilitates resolutions of problems and areas of non-compliance. Coordinates and provides routine surveillance and inspections through hazard surveillance rounds throughout the organization. Collects and analyzes safety data and makes recommendations for improvement. Consults with departments to develop safety policies, plans, training, monitoring and reporting. Coordinates with other relevant functions including performance improvement, infection control, facilities, risk management, etc.QUALITY: Contributes to the development, implementation and monitoring of an effective Quality program, which is reviewed and revised annually. Follows up on results of review, evaluation activities and incident reports, and takes corrective action as required to positively impact the outcomes of the Performance Improvement Plan. Complies with and enforces safety procedures to maintain a safe environment for employees, patients and visitors.
