Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in one or more of the following areas: OMAT, maintenance, construction, intermodal, planning, utilities, surveying, environmental and traffic.JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES: Supervises, guides, and/or instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff on a routine maintenance crew. Monitors a crew performing routine maintenance activities on the state route system in his/her assigned area. Provides training to lower level employees in safety procedures and preventive maintenance techniques and also enforces compliance with same. Responsible for coordinating, planning, and directing all activities of the crew to accomplish the tasks assigned by his/her supervisor. Maintains a positive working relationship with the travelling public. Responsible for the evaluation of personnel performance, and provides feedback and counseling for professional growth. Responsible for the completion of all required monthly/semi-monthly documents, forms and reports. Responsible for the operation of all equipment assigned to the crew also acts as operator as required to assist in the accomplishment of work. Responsible for the performance of regular inspections of state routes and rights of way throughout are of assignment for routine maintenance and safety needs. Facilitates team/crew response to emergencies on the state route system as directed.NOTE: Based on operation requirements such as brine transport and on-call emergencies, possession of a Class A CDL may be preferred for some positions.
