Job Description

The Editor is responsible for shaping the storytelling and tone of the series through final picture. The Editor works closely with series Creative Leadership and Directors to shape the episodes and bring life to the story. This work is completed through assembling digital files, dialogue, and sound into a cinematic experience that defines the visual rhythm, pacing, and emotional tone of each episode. Working closely with series Creative Leadership and Directors to shape the episodes and bring life to the story.ResponsibilitiesBuild and refine animatics from storyboards, shaping timing, flow, and shot continuity.Make decisions regarding pacing, acting, dialogue, music and sound effects that determine the quality and delivery of the animated project. Collaborate with show and studio leadership to explore variations, adjustments, and enhancements for storytelling clarity.Oversee correct presentation of editorial-related materials for production screenings and exports to third parties.Attend and participate in notes sessions with creative and management groups ad address any notes or changes resulting from meetings and screenings.Partner with Production, Editorial team, and Post team to coordinate file updates, audio sync, and version control.Work closely with Production to track deliverables and meet deadlines.Organize and maintain editorial databases and file structures, ensuring clarity.Receive shot deliveries from Animation Studio Partner, organize them, and cut them in for reviews.Assemble and refine final picture edits, solidifying the creative tone and planning sound design, score integration, and final mix.Liaise with the Studio Post team for technical specs and delivery requirements.Supervise Assistant Editor to ensure they are handling all needed duties and deliveries in a timely manner.Archive projects and files.Required Qualifications And SkillsMinimum 3 years experience as an Editor.Ability to multi-task and juggle multiple episodes at the same time.Strong understanding of story structure, comedic timing, and cinematic language.Familiarity with sound design and music editing for storytelling enhancement.Ability to manage and conform sequences in Avid Media Composer.Maintain editorial integrity throughout the production from animatic build to final output.Familiarity with importing, exporting, and managing materials for editorial.Expert proficiency in Avid Media Composer.Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post-production processes.Positive attitude with the ability to be flexible.Self-motivated team player who can thrive in team environments.Excellent organizational, verbal, written, e-social skills and acumen.EducationBachelor degree or equivalent work experienceThe pay rate for this role in Glendale, California is $66.40 to $73.04 per hour, which follows the pay scale agreed upon in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The base pay actually offered may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
