Job Description

Basic Function:Teachers plan and deliver rigorous, systematic, differentiated and targeted academic instruction to students to ensure students’ academic gains are accelerated, significant and measurable.Essential Responsibilities:Providing direct instruction/support to students whose needs were identified in an IEP developed by the IEP teamPlan and direct a variety of programs, projects, and activities as it relates to special education Plan, lead, and participate in IEP meetings to review the student’s achievement and progress toward meeting annual goals and objectivesDemonstrate teaching strategies and utilizing materials considered appropriate and effectiveUtilize assessment results in developing IEP goals and objectivesPlan and deliver rigorous and differentiated lessons Provide an environment of effective classroom management and student efficacyUse data to inform student support Coordinate results of assessments with service providers and Director of Special Education and Wellness to prepare a multi-disciplinary team report at each initial or triennial review Providing technical expertise to teachers and staff as it relates to serving students with IEPsproviding emphasis on meeting state requirements for a diploma, college admission, and preparation for adult lifeProvide consultation to school staff and parents which may relate to student assessment, specialized instruction or behavior managementPractice identity-safe, culturally-relevant pedagogyProvide students with regular constructive feedback to promote achievementCompile and maintain records, such as attendance, behavior, and academic data to progress monitor and report on meeting IEP goalsDevelop positive relationships with school community that are aligned with LPS’ culture and valuesContribute to the cultivation of strong and cohesive professional learning communitiesCommunicates clearly and timely with parents/caregivers and colleagues to enhance learning opportunitiesParticipate in site and network professional development, meetings, and events as assigned Serve on school leadership teams or committees as assignedOther DutiesPerform related duties as assigned Minimum QualificationsEducation, Training, and ExperienceAny combination equivalent to:a bachelor’s degree from an accredited universityLicensing And Other RequirementsValid California Education Specialist Credential with English Learner Authorization or 18 semester units or 9 upper division semester units of course work in a subjectEmployment eligibility that includes fingerprint, tuberculosis, and/or other employment clearancesKnowledge of:Local, state, and federal laws as it relates to special education Instructional programs, methods, and practices that differentiate and accelerate student learning and achievementLeadership development practices and effective supervisionCalifornia standards, curriculum frameworks and current research-based practices and trends related to work scopeCulturally-responsive pedagogy Adult learning principles and change management theoryEffective professional development practices, including data-based inquirySkills and Ability to:Motivate, inspire and engage studentsSupport, monitor and evaluate instructional program effectivenessUse and analyze data to accelerate student achievementGuide students to analyze and improve their study methods and habitsImplement collaborative and team building processesPlan, implement, and monitor high-leverage professional developmentFacilitate dissent and conduct difficult and constructive conversations effectivelyProvide timely and actionable feedbackUse technology to strengthen the teaching/learning processCommunicate effectively both orally and in writingWork effectively across diverse communitiesManage various projects and/or demands demonstrating flexibility and effective time-management skillsWorking Conditions:EnvironmentInstructional environment which includes indoor and outdoor activitiesPhysical and Mental DemandsMental acuityDexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboardHearing and speaking to communicate Seeing to observe and read materialsSitting or standing for extended periods of time Pulling, pushing, lifting and/or carrying instructional materials and equipmentLeadership Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity at all levels.Notification of Non-Discrimination PolicyLeadership Public Schools prohibits discrimination, harassment, intimidation, and bullying based on actual or perceived race, religion creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, parental, family, or marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, veteran status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sex (sexual harassment), or sexual orientation, or association with a person or a group with one or more of these actual or perceived characteristics.
