The Education Department at Iona University invites applications for multiple part-time University Supervisors to observe, mentor, and engage in structured feedback cycles with teacher candidates during their clinical placements. Successful candidates will demonstrate reflective practice, curiosity, and a commitment to supporting students through a rigorous student-teaching experience.ResponsibilitiesConduct mixed-format observations for a cohort of 5-6 student teachersAttend and participate in student teacher seminar weeklyAttend weekly supervisor meetingsMentor and support student teachersHold pre/post observation conferences with student teachers to encourage reflection and support growthProvide feedback for student teachers to support their developing teaching skills: fostering a positive classroom environment, planning practices, adapting instruction for diverse learners, culturally responsive teaching, and engaging in reflection and self-assessmentRequired QualificationsAvailable for observations, coaching sessions, or support during regular school hoursAble to arrange transportation to the New Rochelle area, including Iona campus and schools within a 10-15 mile radius of campusMaster's degree3+ years teaching experience, with a record of successValid teaching certificationPreferred QualificationsValid NYS teaching certification in literacy-focused areas; childhood; early childhood; secondary subject-specific areas; special educationExperience with best-practice literacy instruction, SEL, classroom management techniques, culturally responsive teachingExperience coaching / mentoring student teachers or emerging/early-career educatorsAbout Iona University/EEO LanguageFounded in 1940, Iona University is a master's-granting private, Catholic, coeducational institution of learning in the tradition of the Edmund Rice Christian Brothers.
