Our Energy product range includes Transformers, Generators, Turbines, Battery Storage Systems and electrical systems.Job SummaryWithin Energy Systems and Solutions Division, our Energy Solutions team provides end-to-end solution delivery for major customers, including taking part in tendering activities, specification reviews & assessments, drawings, design & design reviews, liaising with overseas manufacturers, preparation for site works, installation and commissioning and quality management. This includes Toshiba OEM Transformers and Switchgear as well as integrated product solutions for BESS and UPS products that have been locally developed in-house.We want to appoint an Energy Solutions Technical Services Manager within the Energy Solutions team, based in Winston Hills.In this position, you will lead and manage a team of 6-10 electrical and control engineers specialising in providing technical expertise and guidance to our teams, stakeholders and clients for transformers, switchgear, BESS and UPS related opportunities and projects.As part of this position, you shall be prepared to travel on aggregate up to approximately 1 - 2 months per year, including site visits, FATs, exhibitions & conferences. Our customer sites include remote domestic and international locations and mining sites, which require attendance during installation, commissioning and maintenance work.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Management: Lead and manage a team of approximately 6 - 10 staff to deliver key projects technical requirements, ensuring delivery of project milestones and technical outcomes. Continuously improve engineering capability, utilisation and develop staff members.Bid & Tender Support: Support Sales Manager during bidding processes by reviewing specifications and coordinating with Toshiba’s overseas manufacturing facilities and domestic contractors / suppliers.Project Delivery: Drive accountability and ownership within the team with emphasis for time-dependent deliverables in collaboration with project delivery associates in Energy Solutions team. Translate project requirements into clear engineering scopes and ensure alignment with schedules. Promote a proactive, outcome-focused team cultureQuality Assurance: Implement and maintain applicable QA programs throughout project lifecycles.Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): Take responsibility for delivering the technical requirements of FAT and SAT activities within projects. Coordinate on the project management objectives for schedule and deliverables working with counterparts in project delivery team.Technical Expertise: Act as a Subject Matter Expert in equipment failure analysis and repair methodologies during root cause investigations. Provide expert guidance in electrical design and control systems. Apply formal design procedures to design work.Standards Compliance: Review and update internal standards while maintaining familiarity with international (IEC) and Australian standards (AS).Solution Development: Support Sales teams in developing innovative solutions, such as integrated skid systems for transformer and switchgear packages; continuous improvement cycles on BESS and UPS systems.Communication & Training: Demonstrate strong technical communication skills, including training, presentations, and customer engagement.Our ideal candidate will possessBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.Ability to register as an engineer within Queensland (RPEQ) and Victoria (CAV)Extensive experience in BESS, transformer projects, including electrical design and control engineering is required. Preferred experience in datacentre UPS power train or related experience is highly valued.At least 8 years demonstrated experience managing a department or team.Background experience with PLC programming for complex applications within a known industrial PLC platform (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Toshiba, Omron or similar)Proven experience leading Factory and Site Acceptance Tests, with strong knowledge of IEC and AS manufacturing standardsBackground experience with effective technical project, high-quality documentation coordination and driving the preparation works for complex technical projects.Background experience with creation of electrical SLDs, schematic drawings and GA drawings for complex electrical panels and systems within AutoCAD. Solidworks experience highly valued.Background experience with electrical engineering design, sizing elements and components for and design of electrical systems, selection of equipment and delivery of successful electrical system designs.Proven leadership experience in technical teams within accountability driven project environments is a core necessity.Strong understanding of project delivery frameworks and engineering governance, including strong understanding of quality management and integration of safety within design. Oil and Gas project experience highly valuedAbility to manage multiple priorities, proactively improve processes, and contribute to the company’s goals in safety, quality, and profitabilityExperienced with site-based work, including remote or mining sites at Australian and/or global locations.Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
