Apply today and be part of something bigger.This role is based in Amandelbult Complex, Thabazimbi, South AfricaJob DescriptionThe role of the Environmental Officer is to support the Environmental Advisor (General)/Environmental Superintendent/SHE manager/specialist in the execution of their work accountability and through execution of day-to-day tasks needed to maintain the operation's environmental management system.Roles And Responsibilities Include The FollowingConduct effectives safety shares at the start of all meetingsExecution of day-to-day tasks needed to maintain the operation's Environmental Management System (EMS-ISO 14001)Day to day work management oversight of the sites Environmental InternsConducting environmental inspections and taking action to address outcomes – including development of short-term improvement plansAssist to maintain a list of material environmental risksAssist to implement and field verify critical controls for each material environmental riskAssist with internal and external communications and engagement obligations regarding site environmental compliance, including hosting regulatory site visits, preparing reports etc.Accurate, timeous capturing of environmental compliance data on relevant systems (includinginspections and audit programs for site)Completing environmental incident reporting and investigationsAssisting with environmental impact assessmentsAssist to implement the Environmental Monitoring Program for the site (by conducting monitoring and/or overseeing monitoring conducted by third partiesAssisting with environmental awareness trainingAssist with compilation of environmental training and awareness programmes and materials.Perform environmental training and awareness drives with employees, contractors and in the local communitiesConduct internal audits for environmental licenses and permit compliance.Support the implementation of improvement plans to address identified compliance gapsAssist to maintain a list of material environmental risksAssist to implement and field verify critical controls for each material environmental riskAssist to identify, classify and report Environmental Incidents and Environmental Hazards across the siteTake part investigations of environmental incidents as per procedure/planAssist with monitoring progress against environmental targets and key risksProvide input on environmental reports for meetings as required.Take part and support in regular meetings with regulators/authorities and local communitiesThis role is on a D1 level reporting to the Environmental Specialist QualificationsQualifications Diploma or Degree in Environmental Management/ ScienceCompleted relevant short courses, such as Environmental law, ISO14001 and AuditingExperienceAt least 3 years’ working experience in Mining related fieldKnowledge And SkillsComputer literacy: MS OfficeValid driver’s licenseAdditional InformationWhat We OfferAt Valterra Platinum, you will join a team committed to excellence and impact.We OfferMeaningful work in a high-performance, values-led environment.Market-aligned reward and recognition.Opportunities for learning, development and progression.A culture that respects diversity and encourages innovation.A clear commitment to safe Operations.Inclusion and DiversityValterra Platinum is an equal opportunities employer.
