Currajong State School is seeking a Head of Special Education Services for temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2026 until 26 June 2026, unless otherwise determined. The HOSES is a valued member of the school leadership team, with oversight of all students requiring additional support, with a key focus on inclusive practices. Our HOSES also provides supervision and support of some of teachers in the school, including curriculum support.We are looking for someone with demonstrated experience in supporting the Inclusion Team and families to navigate seeking a diagnosis, effective collection of NCCD data including ensuring all staff record student adjustments and an ability to work as an effective member of a team.This temporary vacancy is open to Expressions of Interest and any extensions to this appointment will not exceed 12 months.About UsCurrajong State School is a medium sized school, well placed in a central location in the city of Townsville. It is very accessible to prospective families with plenty of accommodation available in the rental and sales market in the Currajong and surrounding suburbs. We encourage and invite parents to become involved in our classrooms while at the same time respecting the numerous demands made on the staff.About The RoleResponsibilities include, but not limited to;Program Leadership and Coordination: Lead and manage the Special Education and/or Early Childhood Development Program to ensure the delivery of high-quality advice, support, and services for students with disability.Expert Guidance and Collaboration: Provide specialist advice to school leadership, teachers, and staff to plan, implement, and monitor effective reasonable adjustments and targeted interventions.Case Management and Student Support: Coordinate and deliver intensive teaching and case management for students requiring substantial or extensive adjustments, ensuring access to appropriate specialist services and supports.Data-Driven Practice and Compliance: Implement and oversee school-wide systems for tracking student progress, managing data, and meeting legislative and policy requirements, including the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD).Partnerships and Resource Management: Build strong partnerships with parents, agencies, and community groups, while effectively managing human, financial, and curriculum resources to achieve program and school goals.Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.How To ApplyPlease submit a brief resume including contact details for 2 referees (referees should have an understanding of your relevant previous work history); andA 1-pg written statement in response to the attached role description.We welcome all applicants to share any support needed to ensure our recruitment process is inclusive.Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to identical or similar vacancies within the Department.Applications from recruitment agencies will not be accepted.Occupational group Education & Training
