Overall Purpose of the JobThe Field Service Technician 1 is responsible for assisting with Casing/Tubing operations involving various types / sizes of tubulars and utilizing varying types / sizes of Frank’s equipment while under instruction and supervision of the allocated Field Supervisor(s). The position holder shall work under direct supervision until proven competent in the tasks and/or disciplines being undertaken.
Key Activities And AccountabilitiesResponsible for their own health and safety and for anyone else who could be affected by their work, never attempting to undertake any task without adequate supervisionResponsible for stopping work where their or other people’s safety is at riskPromptly reporting any unsafe/unsatisfactory plant and/or systems of work, or those not being operated to Frank’s standards or QHSE proceduresImplement quality, health and safety policies and procedures during all operational activities.
Suggest changes/improvements relevant to those proceduresActively seek ways to eliminate unsafe practices, conditions and damage to people, processes, equipment, property and the environmentEnsure their work area(s) are kept clean and free from obstructionsActively participate in worksite safety programs as requiredComplete and forward relevant paper or electronic reports, e. g. STAR Cards, incident reports, Equipment Fault Reports, etc. to the appropriate department.
Keep up to date with all new developments in Frank’s equipment and operational requirements as instructedEnsure all required operational documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner and forwarded to Operations Office for processingProfessionally represent Frank’s International at client meetings when requestedAssist onshore/workshop operations in any Frank’s location as requiredMeet all operational deadlines/schedules as required, including:
Pre/post-job meetings, check-ins, flights/travel obligations, safety meetings, toolbox talks and shift configurationsActively participate in all learning and development programs, which may include travel, as and when requiredMaintain competence in the prerequisite requirements of this Job DescriptionDevelop and demonstrate competence in the disciplines that relate to the Field Service Technician 1 in the Local Field Career Development Competence MapAssist with packing, unpacking, dressing, servicing and routine maintenance of Frank’s casing equipment as detailed in the company maintenance proceduresAssist with tubular operations where required, e. g. drifting, removing thread protectors, etc.
Operate basic manual, diesel, hydraulic and electrically powered Frank’s casing equipment, rigging-up, connecting and disconnecting as requiredAssist with inspection and connecting (make-up) and disconnecting (break-out) of tubularsAlign casing for make-up or break-out (stabbing), including the correct, safe connection and disconnection of handling toolsInspect all workshop and offshore equipment, maintaining it as detailed in the company maintenance procedures and repair as requiredJob Knowledge And QualificationsExperience in the operation of Power Tongs, Hydraulic / Electric Power Units, Manual Elevators and Air Operated Elevators and Spiders.
Previous Oil & Gas Field experience or Mechanical/Electrical experienceThe ability and drive required to meet Frank’s International’s operational deadlinesThe aptitude and adaptability required to meet operational needs. Completion of all prerequisite requirements of the Field Service Technician 1 job position, e. g. probation period requirements, demonstrable safe work practices and understanding of basic equipment identification, basic equipment maintenance processes, etc. Excellent coordinating, organizational and administrative skills.
