Feed Mill Control Operator Job DescriptionJob Title: Feed Mill Control Operator Location: Crawfordsville, GA Employment Type: Full-Time/HourlyReports To: Feed Mill ManagerPosition SummaryThe Feed Mill Control Operator is responsible for manufacturing feed in accordance with standard operating procedures established at the feed mill. Also responsible for operating the computer automation systems required to receive ingredients, grind grains, mix and pellet feed. Operate processing equipment according to established standard operating procedures. They will also perform housekeeping activities, quality checks on feed and ingredients, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Position reports to the Feed Mill MangerKey ResponsibilitiesOperate computer automation systems to control pelleting, grinding, and batching equipment. Manufacture feed in compliance with QA policies, SOPs, and current GMPs, meeting specifications. Monitor and adjust processing equipment to maintain optimal performance. Sample incoming ingredients and perform QA tests to verify compliance with standards. Collect feed samples according to the established sampling plan to ensure quality. Conduct micro handling tasks, including precise measurement of feed additives and ingredients. Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a sanitary and safe environment per standards. Inspect and report maintenance or production issues to the Feed Mill Manager, assisting as needed. Document production data, quality checks, and maintenance activities in electronic logs. Perform additional duties as assigned to support shift operations and plant needs.QualificationsMust be self-motivated, with a strong focus on production efficiency and feed quality. Ability to lift 60+ lbs repeatedly to support feed production and material handling. Ability to climb ladders and stairs regularly demonstrating comfort with heights. Willingness to work weekends as needed to meet production demands or perform maintenance. Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently, with certification or willingness to obtain certificationExperience with computer automation software preferred.Work EnvironmentWork is performed throughout the feed mill, including production areas, mechanical rooms, and grain storage zones, with exposure to dust, noise, and occasional temperature extremes. Protective gear (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots) provided and required. Shift work, including nights, weekends, or on-call hours, may be required.
