With $42 billion in revenue and the highest R&D investment in the industry, we empower our people to make significant contributions every day.For more information, visit www.thermofisher.com.How will you make an impact?The Finance Digital Transformation team leads automation and digital innovation across Finance — demonstrating Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Data Analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to drive standardization, simplification, and efficiency improvements.As an Automation Process Designer, you will lead the end-to-end delivery of automation and process-improvement projects — from requirements gathering through testing and deployment. You will connect business needs with technical execution by designing functional solutions, coordinating with developers, validating outcomes, and communicating results to finance interested parties.This position blends finance process understanding, automation design (RPA, Analytics, AI), and agile/hybrid project delivery within a collaborative, global environment.Key Responsibilities:Requirements & Process DesignCollaborate with Finance team (SMEs) to identify and articulate business challenges suitable for automation solutions.Analyze and measure process efficiency through value stream mapping, process mining, and root-cause analysis.Design end-to-end process maps (current and future state) and identify optimization opportunities that enable automation.Perform cost-benefit analyses to prioritize initiatives and support portfolio decision-making.Partner with the Discovery team to validate value case and ensure readiness for design and delivery.Translate business and functional requirements into clear, traceable, and testable functional specifications or use cases.Collaborate with Solution Architects and developers to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with Finance process standards.Challenge and refine existing processes to promote simplification, reusability, and scalability.Build and maintain comprehensive process flow diagrams, functional specifications, and development documents.Project Delivery & CoordinationLead assigned projects through design, build, test, and deployment phases, ensuring alignment with program standards.Create and maintain project plans, keep JIRA boards up to date, and report on project timelines, risks, and results.Facilitate daily stand-ups and weekly status meetings with developers and interested parties.Partner with Finance SMEs and technical teams to confirm feasibility and accuracy of solutions.Support proof-of-concept efforts for new tools or automation ideas.Testing & ValidationDevelop and complete test scripts; coordinate and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with SMEs.Validate that solutions meet business expectations and quality standards prior to deployment.Document test results and ensure proper defect tracking and closure.Support post-implementation validation and lessons-learned sessions.Communication & ReportingProvide regular project updates and reports to the Design & Delivery Lead and business interested parties.Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure knowledge sharing across teams.Advocate for automation by promoting awareness of its value and success within Finance and partner organizations.Act as the point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring visibility and effective communication across Finance and IT.EducationBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.Experience1–3 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Analysis, or Process Improvement roles is preferable.2+ years of experience working with or around automation and analytics technologies (e.g., RPA, Power Platform, Power BI, Analytics; AI exposure such as Agentic AI or GenAI is a plus).1–3 years of experience leading or coordinating projects within Agile or hybrid delivery models.Familiarity with enterprise systems (ERP, CRM, Data Warehouse).Familiarity with workflow and financial automation tools such as Workiva, Dodeca, or Blackline modules is preferable; direct participation in their implementation or integration is advantageous.Experience with project-management and collaboration tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, or similar).Experience conducting cost-benefit analysis, process assessments, and feasibility evaluations preferredKnowledge, Skills, AbilitiesStrong analytical and problem-solving skills; capable of assessing process efficiency and identifying improvement opportunities.Proficiency in documenting requirements, process flows, and solution specifications.Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills across technical and business audiences.Advanced Excel skills and working with data analytics tools.Organized and proactive, able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.Familiarity with Agile/Hybrid project management principles.Knowledge of finance processes (Revenue, Procurement, Sourcing, Forecasting, indicators) is advantageous.Collaborative, committed to producing strong outcomes, and passionate about digital transformation.Certifications (Nice to Have): Agile or Scrum Fundamentals, Lean Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt, or equivalent.At Thermo Fisher Scientific, every one of our 70,000 outstanding minds has an unusual story to tell.
