Finance Group Controller

Following a landmark acquisition by Brookfield, in partnership with The MESH Group, Unity Living is now part of a robust platform serving students, young professionals, and corporate clients in some of the region’s most dynamic and structurally undersupplied cities—including Stockholm, Malmö, Helsinki, and Tampere.As we expand our footprint and elevate our operational excellence, we are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Group Controller to lead our financial operations across the group. This role is pivotal in ensuring financial integrity, compliance, and transparency across our entities in Sweden and Finland plus in the future Norway and Denmark. You will oversee accounting and tax processes, support investor and stakeholder reporting, and act as a key system owner for our financial platforms.The position is based in Stockholm or Helsinki, with a hybrid work model and some travel required to support local teams and operations. An immediate start date is a strong plus.Key Responsibilities·       Oversee daily financial operations including invoice approvals, payment processing, bank account management, and credit note handling across Unity Living entities.·       Ensure timely VAT and preliminary tax payments and reporting in Sweden and Finland.·       Coordinate with external accounting firms to ensure compliance and delivery of financial data to public authorities.·       Act as the primary finance contact for local teams and external advisors regarding VAT, vendor management, and financial queries.·       Manage monthly closing activities including revenue reconciliation from hotel systems, salary approvals, intercompany invoicing, and accrual validation.·       Ensure intercompany balances are reconciled and financial data consistency between systems.·       Supervise group-wide tax compliance and reporting, including VAT filings and preliminary tax payments.·       Liaise with auditors and coordinate responses to audit requests and documentation delivery.·       Act as system owner for Business Central (BC), including user setup, rights management, job queue oversight, and issue resolution with IT providers.·       Co-manage Pleo system operations including wallet funding, invoice documentation, and accounting file uploads.·       Support bank reporting requirements with occupancy data, forecasts, and covenant tracking.·       Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts per entity, incorporating expected revenues, costs, interest payments, salary runs, VAT obligations, intercompany transactions, and capex planning.·       Monitor liquidity needs and coordinate funding strategies across the group.·       Serve as the go-to finance contact for local teams and external partners.·       Collaborate with internal departments and external service providers to ensure smooth financial operations.·       Drive process improvements and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.Qualifications & Experience·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent certification preferred certified tax advisor is a strong plus.·       Minimum 7–10 years of experience in financial controlling, accounting, or audit, ideally in a multi-entity or international environment.·       Strong knowledge of IFRS and local (esp.
