Financial Controller (Small/Mid-Market Agency Specialist – Night Shift, USA Hours)100% Office-BasedLocations: Sandton, Durban, Cape Town, or KenyaHours: 4:00 PM – 2:00 AM SASTEmployer: tmatma is looking for an exceptional Financial Controller with strong US GAAP knowledge, hands-on QuickBooks Online expertise, and a proven ability to manage international B2B clients in small- to mid-market agency environments.This role is ideal for someone who is highly strategic, client-facing, and able to operate across multiple functions rather than simply closing the books.This is a full-time, office-based role aligned to USA business hours.MUST HAVE (Non-Negotiable Requirements)Candidates must meet ALL requirements below to be considered:QuickBooks Online experience (mandatory – zero exceptions)Strong US GAAP knowledge (cannot train on this)Background in small/mid-market agencies or SME consulting environments (NOT enterprise, NOT Big Four)Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Financial ControllerExperience managing international B2B clients in service-based or agency settingsAbility to be client-facing, strategic, and proactiveDemonstrated ability to wear multiple hats (operations + accounting + advisory)Strong leadership experience managing remote and cross-functional finance teamsUnderstanding of ASC 606, revenue recognition, and ERP systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, SAP, Excel)Key ResponsibilitiesClient ManagementAct as the primary point of contact for all finance-related client matters.Build and maintain strong executive-level relationships with international clients.Collaborate across platforms (Slack, Teams, Skype) with a strict 2-hour response time.Provide strategic, data-driven financial insights tailored to each client’s operational needs.Team Leadership & ManagementLead U.S. and international finance teams.Delegate effectively, manage workloads, and ensure accountability.Mentor team members and support long-term professional development.Partner with FP&A teams to ensure accuracy of reporting and financial analyses.Accounting & Financial ReportingOwn month-end close, financial statements, schedules, and reconciliations.Strengthen internal controls, processes, and compliance.Improve systems for accuracy, scalability, and consistency.Recommend and implement financial software upgrades when needed.Strategic Financial OversightUnderstand and interpret client KPIs and business models.Anticipate financial challenges and propose proactive solutions.Maintain a thorough understanding of each client’s reporting, audit, and compliance requirements.Nice to Have(Not mandatory but beneficial)CPG Experience:Inventory flow, DTC/wholesale, sales tax, COGS vs Opex.Tech/SaaS Experience:Revenue waterfalls, deferred revenue, cost capitalization.Working Hours & LocationNight shift aligned to USA business hours4:00 PM – 2:00 AM SAST100% office-based (Sandton, Durban, Cape Town, or Kenya)Why Join tma?tma partners with high-growth international clients, delivering world-class financial operations, strategic advisory, and long-term support.
