We invite passionate individuals to join our team, dedicated to exceeding customer expectations through innovative and sustainable solutions.Job SummaryThe Fitter and Turner is responsible for assembling, fitting, and machining mechanical components to precise specifications. This includes maintaining, repairing, and manufacturing parts for industrial machines, tools, and mechanical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and other machine tools to manufacture parts.Fit, assemble, and align mechanical components and assemblies.Inspect and test completed components for accuracy and quality using measuring instruments (micrometers, vernier calipers, gauges, etc.).Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.Detect faults and carry out repairs or modifications when required.Maintain accurate job records, time sheets, and maintenance reports.Work according to safety and quality standards in the workshop or production area.Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other artisans on projects and installations.Ensure tools and machines are kept in good working condition.Qualifications And ExperienceTrade Test Certificate: Fitter and Turner (Red Seal).N3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (advantageous).Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a workshop, manufacturing, or maintenance environment.Experience with CNC machines is an added advantage.Basic knowledge of welding and fabrication (advantageous).Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.Good mathematical skills for accurate measurements.Good problem-solving and fault-finding skills.Skills And CompetenciesStrong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.Skilled in precision machining, fitting, and alignment.Knowledge of workshop safety procedures.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Manual dexterity and physical stamina.Work EnvironmentWorkshop, factory floor, or industrial plant.May involve overtime, shift work, or call-outs depending on operational needs.Join the global Xylem team to be a part of innovative technology solutions transforming water usage, conservation, and re-use.
