SCRIPPS COLLEGECLAREMONT, CALIFORNIA 91711FLETCHER JONES FOUNDATION SCHOLAR IN COMPUTATION AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSISBEGINNING ACADEMIC YEAR 2026-27Scripps College, a women's liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for the Fletcher Jones Foundation Scholar in Computation to begin in the 2026-27 academic year. We are looking for a scholar whose expertise in computational modeling or forecasting, GIS, and/or machine learning is combined with expertise in environmental geography, environmental policy, environmental humanities, environmental economics, or environmental arts. We value interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and research, and we are interested in candidates who can engage our students in small classroom settings and supervise undergraduate research.The teaching load is four courses annually plus senior thesis advising. The Chair will teach introductory-level computer/data science and upper-division classes within their discipline that are also intended to count towards the Computer/Data Science and/or Environmental Analysis majors and minors housed at The Claremont Colleges Consortium, of which Scripps College is a member. The candidate should have a PhD and/or MFA in hand by January 1, 2026, in any non-natural science field with emphasis on Environmental Studies and demonstrable expertise in computation.This position is non-tenure track and is renewable after 3 years for a maximum term of 6 years. Teaching experience and scholarly production are required. The salary for this position will range from $87,734 to $97,482 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
