Responsibilities include performing metallurgical sample preparation including cutting, grinding, polishing, acid etching, and mounting; operating and maintaining testing equipment such as CT scanners, Instrons, and surface scanners; working with the engineering team to collect data and conduct testing, analysis, and review of printed parts; performing data entry and report generation; participating in process improvement efforts to streamline testing procedures; and contributing to installation and commissioning of new machines used for material testing / qualification. Basic qualifications include 3+ years of professional experience in materials or mechanical testing such as pulling tensile bars, metallurgical sample preparation, surface scanner operation, etc.

Nice to have are extreme attention to detail and critical thinking skills, experience handling and keeping track of a large number of physical parts and the measurements taken on them, experience in operating complex equipment, experience working with hazardous materials, exposure to basic concepts of statistical process control, safety conscience, proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, ability to lift and/or move up to 30lbs unassisted, ability to climb ladders and be on feet for extended periods, and willingness to work overtime when needed.

The location is in Hawthorne, CA in a 35,000 square foot, state-of-the-art facility with easy access to major freeways and is part of Los Angeles' emerging tech ecosystem. The company offers an inclusive and diverse culture, significant stock option packages, 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid vacation, sick leave, company holidays, generous paid parental leave, free daily catered lunch and dinner, casual dress, flexible work hours, and regular team building events. Compensation is $25-$45/hour plus stock options, commensurate with experience and skills.
