Job SummaryThe Gateway Manager (MBJ) is responsible for overseeing all import and export operations within the Gateway facility, ensuring compliance with DHL policies, customs regulations, and safety standards. This leadership role is pivotal in managing the Gateway's team, optimizing operational efficiency, and achieving service excellence. The Gateway Manager is also accountable for meeting performance, financial, and customer satisfaction goals, driving continuous improvement, and fostering a high-performance culture.Key TasksOperational Management and Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end operations of the Gateway, ensuring the smooth processing of shipments. Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and team members to maintain high levels of performance and engagement. Ensure all Gateway activities are performed in compliance with DHL policies and regulatory requirements. Resolve escalations and operational challenges promptly and effectively.Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that import/export operations adhere to customs and trade regulations. Maintain strong relationships with customs authorities and other regulatory bodies to facilitate smooth operations. Monitor and implement updates to comply with changing regulations and ensure readiness for audits or inspections.Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational efficiency and identify areas for improvement. Develop and implement strategies to optimize processes, reduce costs, and enhance service quality. Introduce and enforce best practices to achieve operational excellence.Financial Oversight: Manage the Gateway’s operating budget, ensuring cost-efficiency while maintaining service quality. Prepare and present financial and operational reports to senior management. Identify opportunities to improve financial performance and implement cost-saving initiatives.Customer Service Excellence: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address customer inquiries and ensure timely shipment processing. Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met or exceeded, maintaining high customer satisfaction. Act as a point of escalation for complex customer issues, ensuring resolution aligns with DHL’s service standards.Safety and Security Management: Enforce safety protocols and ensure a secure work environment for employees and shipments. Regularly review and update security measures in compliance with local and international standards. Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to mitigate potential threats.Montego Bay Operation This role will be in charge of the ground operation of the service center in Montego Bay Bachelor's degree in aviation management, logistics, business administration, a related discipline or equivalent work experience of more than 5 years in logistics company working in aviation/gateway roles leading teams. 5-7 years of relevant experience in aviation operations or a related field Exceptional communication with the ability to effectively interact with diverse teams and stakeholders Strong problem-solving ability, capable of quickly assessing situations and implementing effective solutions Proficiency in utilizing computer systems and related information systems for operational tasks and reporting Possession of a valid General Driver’s License, with a clean driving record Clear criminal background check or acceptable police record Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork and collaboration within the aviation environment
