We’re at an exciting phase of growth and are seeking a General Council with a strong legal background to oversee legal and compliance functions while supporting the CEO and leadership team in driving operational excellence.Job Overview:You will work closely with the CEO and COS to support Zoop’s strategic agenda, oversee high-impact legal and regulatory projects, and ensure the organization adheres to relevant legal requirements and best practices. This role combines strategic oversight with compliance expertise, making it ideal for a candidate with a background in law, strategic thinking, and operational execution.Key Responsibilities:Legal & Compliance Oversight:Oversee and ensure compliance with relevant legal and regulatory requirements across all aspects of Zoop’s operations, particularly within the creator economy and digital content landscape.Act as the primary advisor on legal matters, providing guidance to the executive team on contractual, intellectual property, privacy, and regulatory issues.Develop, implement, and monitor compliance policies, procedures, and standards to support Zoop’s business goals while mitigating legal risks.Manage relationships with external legal advisors and coordinate responses to legal inquiries, audits, or investigations.Strategic Support & Alignment:Collaborate closely with the CEO to develop and execute Zoop’s strategic priorities with an emphasis on legal compliance and risk management.Facilitate and streamline decision-making processes by providing insights and recommendations on legal and compliance considerations impacting key business issues.Support the executive team in aligning company-wide initiatives with legal requirements, ensuring consistent focus on strategic objectives.Operational Oversight:Lead and oversee key projects and initiatives across departments, particularly those with legal or compliance implications, ensuring milestones and objectives are met.Identify and address bottlenecks in processes related to compliance, making recommendations to optimize efficiency and ensure regulatory adherence.Assist in budget planning for legal and compliance resources to support Zoop’s strategic goals.Executive Communication & Representation:Act as an extension of the CEO in high-level meetings, communicating legal and compliance priorities to ensure alignment with the company’s mission and values.Prepare briefings, presentations, and reports on legal and compliance matters for internal and external stakeholders, representing the CEO in key engagements when required.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Serve as a liaison between the CEO and department heads, fostering collaboration and accountability on legal and compliance-related projects.Lead regular meetings with department heads to track progress on compliance initiatives, ensuring goals are met and risks are managed.Manage high-priority communications related to legal and regulatory compliance across the organization, ensuring alignment on critical issues.Data Analysis & Reporting:Track and analyze compliance-related metrics and KPIs, providing actionable insights to the executive team to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.Develop dashboards and reports that provide visibility into the organization’s compliance performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.Requirements:Experience:5+ years of experience in a leadership role with a legal and compliance focus, such as Compliance Officer, or Legal Counsel, ideally within a high-growth startup or tech environment.Proven experience managing legal and regulatory projects, developing compliance frameworks, and advising senior leadership on legal matters.Skills:Strong legal acumen with expertise in corporate, contract, intellectual property, and regulatory law.Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills, particularly in identifying and mitigating legal risks.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and communicate complex legal concepts clearly.Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a dynamic environment.Work Ethic:High attention to detail, with a strong sense of accountability and commitment to regulatory excellence.Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to balance short-term demands with long-term compliance goals.Compensation: Competitive salary, equity options, and token participation, with significant growth opportunities.Flexible remote work environment.The chance to make a substantial impact on a pioneering platform in the creator economy while ensuring legal and regulatory integrity.
