We are now searching for a GM for Thrive Melbourne to lead Thrive’s Victorian operations driving commercial growth, delivering standout client work, and nurturing a high-performing, values-led team.Reporting directly to our CEO, you’ll step into the role with the mentorship of our outgoing Acting MD (who is transitioning into a newly created internal role), and work in close partnership with our established Melbourne Client Director. You’ll shape local strategy, strengthen our profile, drive an evolved integrated and creative service offering, and make Thrive the place where exceptional people do their best work. This role blends leadership and visibility with hands-on involvement in client strategy, creativity, new business and culture-building. What You’ll DoLead in the local market: Drive Excess Earned Attention™ for Thrive clients, shaping and delivering the Melbourne business plan designed to dominate the Victorian market and aligned to Thrive’s ANZ vision.Drive commercial success: Flex your commercial muscle in collaboration with the CEO and supported by a savvy commercial team. Deliver motivating revenue targets, maintain healthy client portfolios, and actively generate new business using Thrive’s network and unrivalled connections while you grow our local industry presence.Be the face of Thrive in Melbourne: Elevate our market profile through thought leadership, events, speaking engagements and strategic partnership leveraging Thrive shared services including tapping into our Marketing and Growth leads (both based in Melbourne). Elevate Thrive’s USPs including our dynamic culture offering Culture Currency™ and other PR, creative, social and content services. Deliver exceptional client outcomes: Provide senior counsel to C-suite clients in Melbourne including ANZ, Stihl, News Corp and other powerhouse brands, overseeing high-impact campaigns, and ensure consistent excellence in delivery. Collaborate with national teams on impactful campaigns for global brands like LEGO, Diageo and others. Build and inspire the team and our connected village: Lead with visibility, mentor emerging leaders, and foster a culture of care, creativity, collaboration and high performance. Drive the growth of our local connected village, choosing the people you want to work with, including agency specialists and complementary agencies. Champion operational excellence: Work with our national leadership to ensure systems, processes and resources are optimised for sustainable growth. Accelerate technology adoption including team use of AI and other tools.What You’ll Bring12–15+ years’ senior leadership experience in PR, communications or a connected industry.A mix of B2B and B2C consulting experience ideally big brand, culture and technology - government comms experience highly regardedA track record of commercial growth in agency, client retention and building high-performing teams.Outstanding local business and media connections and industry presence in Melbourne (and ideally nationally).Proven ability to design and lead strategy and execution across integrated campaigns.Exceptional relationship skills — you’re equally confident in the boardroom and on the ground.A values-led leadership style that champions collaboration, curiosity and care.Commercial nous, operational clarity, and the ability to spot and seize opportunities.Why Thrive?We’re proudly independent, female-led and values-driven, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland.
