Our practice covers all major retail sectors, including grocery, apparel and footwear (including luxury fashion), specialty retail, restaurants and food service, and travel and leisure.As part of this team, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the globe, partners leading intellectual property (IP) initiatives, and Bain’s marketing and editorial teams. You’ll also work closely with other Practice Consultants worldwide and members of Bain’s broader Product, Practice, and Knowledge (PPK) ecosystem.WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAMThis full-time role supports Bain’s Retail practice globally (50%) and in the Americas (50%), with preferred location in Lisbon. Reporting to the Global/Americas Retail Practice Director, you’ll help shape Bain’s retail IP and drive thought leadership across one of Bain’s largest and fastest-growing industry sectors.WHAT YOU’LL DOAs a Practice Consultant, you’ll:Build Bain’s distinctive, provocative retail IP and points of view through research, data analysis, and expert inputCollaborate with partners and practice leaders to develop, refine, and commercialize new products and insightsSupport marketing efforts by publishing thought pieces externally in formats such as briefs, infographics, webinars, and videosActively deploy IP internally and externally, supporting affiliates, case teams, and commercialization initiativesProvide advisory support to client-facing teams, ensuring frontline learnings improve our contentSupport major practice meetings and summits, from agenda setting to presenting the latest IPCoach and mentor colleagues on the practice team, contributing to professional development and a strong team ethosABOUT YOUQualificationsBA or equivalent required; MBA preferred4+ years of professional experience, including 1–2 years of current or recent consulting experience at the Consultant level with a leading consulting firmStrong abilities in problem definition and problem solvingExcellent analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and business modelingSkilled at structuring and leading research and analysis in fast-paced environmentsDemonstrated organizational and time management skillsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including PowerPoint proficiencyComfortable working with remote supervisors and global teamsAbility to engage effectively with stakeholders across all levels at Bain and client organizationsPreferred ExperienceRetail sector exposure (consulting or industry)Project management experienceFamiliarity with data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Alteryx, Tableau)Personal AttributesCollaborative and customer-oriented, able to work through others to drive resultsEntrepreneurial and proactive, with a “roll up your sleeves” mindsetBright, pragmatic problem solver with a data-driven approachEngaging communicator, adaptable across technical, executive, and consulting audiencesEnergetic, enthusiastic, and skilled at relationship-buildingInspirational leader with a track record of motivating and developing colleaguesA great teammate who brings passion and fun to the workWHAT BAIN CAN OFFER YOUDevelop deep retail expertise: Build and showcase thought leadership through cutting-edge IP, provocative points of view, and market-facing content.Broaden your skillset: Gain operational experience running the practice as a business unit, while also contributing to commercialization and branding initiatives.Progressive career opportunities: Clear promotion path to Practice Manager and beyond, with options to transition into capability practices or product roles.Work with a great team: Join a global practice with high engagement scores, collaborate with top partners and experts, and be part of a community of ~50 Practice Consultants globally.
