Job Description

The Press Room Assistant’s responsibilities include and are not limited to preparing the press for printing. An assistant will stage all jobs for the press which include plates, coating blanket, master or proofs, ink, and anything specific to jobs. The assistant will also set up all jobs on Integration pilot and send over to Press job is routed to. With the Press Room being continuous run assistant will cover press crews breaks and lunches.

When the press room assistant has fulfilled all their daily task the supervisor will use them in a utility role running the aerator, stripping, or support on the production floor. Javelin Luxel T9000 Plate MakerMan Roland Integration PilotAutomatan AeratorTasks PerformedPreparing the jobs for the Press consists of the following. Stage Job Ticket. Stage Plates and Coating blanket if called out. Stage Master sheet or Proof. Stage Ink. Send Zip files from Integration Pilot to designated Press. Check stock counts.

During Make Ready the following are required. Assist Crew in the followingFeed Press. Check Copy. Check Inks. Pull Loads. Aerate Loads. Miscellaneous tasks. Other tasks: Maintain housekeeping standards. Achieve targeted performance standards on make-ready, run, non-chargeable times and waste. Support department with continuous running. Make Plates when needed. Aerate loads when needed. Provide daily feedback to supervision regarding all aspects of shift activities. Complete forms, logs, and records as required. Adhere to all safety rules. Follow directions of Shift Supervisor.

Education & Work ExperienceHigh school diploma3-5+ years in industry specific experience Interpersonal/Work Relationship SkillsWorks effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive andpositive manner; listens to and objectively considers ideas and suggestions from others. Skills & Qualifications:

Proficient in math, writing and computer skills. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including effective interpersonal skills. Capable of effectively managing a production crew. Must be detail oriented and possess a working knowledge of industry specific information. Must be mechanically inclined. Must be able to read measurements (tape, rule, caliper) Physical Demands: Job function requires lifting to a maximum of 50 pounds with intermittent stooping and bending. Job function requires the ability to work in a standing position continuously.
