Purpose of the RoleThe Grants Manager is a key operational role responsible for leading and coordinating grant applications, grant reporting, and the continuous improvement of UNAA NSW’s grants processes. The role supports the Director of Partnerships in identifying, securing, and managing funding opportunities, particularly those connected to events and community engagement initiatives. This role will also oversee a small team of volunteer grant writers and works closely with the Executive Board and Pillar Leads to ensure funding efforts align with organisational priorities.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Grants Manager will be responsible for:Grants Strategy and ManagementLead the end-to-end grants process, including prospecting, planning, writing, submission, and acquittal.Develop and maintain a grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and upcoming opportunities.Coordinate and quality-assure all grant submissions to ensure clarity, consistency, and alignment with UNAA NSW objectives.Improve and streamline internal grant procedures, templates, and workflows.Collaboration & Stakeholder EngagementWork closely with the Director of Partnerships and Partnerships Manager to identify funding priorities and opportunities, with a particular focus on events and public-facing programs.Collaborate with the Executive Board, Pillar Leads, and project teams to gather necessary information, budgets, and project details for funding proposals.Provide guidance to volunteers and stakeholders on grant requirements and process expectations.Collaborate with the Partnerships Manager when partnership opportunities overlap with grant funding pathways.Team LeadershipManage, mentor, and support a small team of volunteer grant writers.Allocate tasks, set timelines, and ensure deliverables meet organisational standards.Build capability within the volunteer team through training and best-practice guidance.Reporting & CompliancePrepare and submit all required grant reports and acquittals in accordance with funder guidelines.Ensure compliance with all funding requirements, maintaining accurate records and documentation.Track outcomes and provide periodic updates to the Executive Board and Partnerships portfolio.Required Skills & ExperienceDemonstrated experience in grant writing, grant coordination, or fundraising for non-profit, community, or social-impact organisations.Strong written communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate project objectives, outcomes, and budgets.Experience developing or managing grants calendars, project workflows, or reporting processes.Ability to interpret funding guidelines and translate program needs into compelling submissions.Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate contributions from various stakeholders.Experience providing guidance or leadership to volunteers or small teams (advantageous).Familiarity with the work of the United Nations, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and community engagement initiatives (advantageous).Comfortable operating in a volunteer-based environment with competing priorities.Time CommitmentThis is a volunteer position requiring approximately 2–3 hours per week, with flexibility depending on grant cycles and submission deadlines.What You’ll GainExperience contributing to a respected non-profit organisation aligned with the United Nations.Opportunities to develop and demonstrate leadership in grant management and volunteer coordination.Exposure to a diverse range of programs, events, and partnerships across the state.meaningful way to contribute to global and local initiatives focused on peace, human rights, sustainability, and global citizenship.
