Our client, a world-class luxury safari and hospitality group that runs lodges across Southern Africa, are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Group Legal and Compliance Officer to join their team in Green Point, Cape Town.The Group Legal and Compliance Officer would be pivotal in overseeing and safeguarding the company’s legal, compliance, and contractual obligations, while ensuring secure, efficient operations and full regulatory compliance.The role entails minor travelling for work-related purposes.Key Responsibilities:Maintain a structured, up-to-date, and secure data room with proper filing and version control for compliance and audit readiness.Draft, review, and support negotiation of contracts with agents, suppliers (Company collective and resellers), and concession partners/landlords.Maintain contracts register, ensuring timely renewals, amendments, and terminations; monitor performance, obligations, and compliance.Advise internal teams on contractual rights, risks, and obligations; standardise contract templates for consistency and efficiency.Manage legal documents, cases, and correspondence; support the CEO and executive team, escalating to external counsel when needed.Coordinate with external advisors on litigation or specialist matters; maintain updated logs of cases, risks, and resolutions.Ensure contracts comply with laws, including data protection (UK GDPR and other relevant territories); monitor regulatory changes affecting agents, suppliers, and landlords/parks.Conduct due diligence on agents, suppliers, and landlords; investigate and resolve disputes, breaches, or non-compliance issues.Act as gatekeeper of confidential company information and lead legal/compliance aspects of due diligence processes.Ensure compliance with the Companies Act and other corporate governance requirements; maintain statutory registers and company records.Prepare, circulate, and maintain accurate minutes of Board, Committee, and Shareholder meetings; ensure proper filing of annual statutory returns (CIPC, CIPA, PACRA, etc.).Safeguard corporate documents, share certificates, and resolutions.Qualification and Experience:Completed LLB Degree and/or BCom Law Degree.Registration with the LPC of South Africa is required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management/corporate governance/regulatory compliance.Exposure to multi-country operations is advantageous.Additional certification in compliance/governance is beneficial.Salary:R780 000 - R900 000 CTC per annum (dependent on qualification and experience)
