Head of Business Development BioWin is the Health Cluster of Wallonia, Belgium, the regional reference holder for all stakeholders in health biotech and medical device research and innovation projects.The competitiveness cluster brings together all the innovation system players in the field of health (biopharma and medtech) in Wallonia, with the goal of stimulating regional economic redeployment.Initially, BioWin’s role was largely focused on the development, selection and monitoring of collaborative research and innovation (R&I) projects involving universities, research centers, academic hospitals and industries.In 15 years, BioWin has developed a portfolio of 59 R&I projects for a total budget of 191 million Euros.This role has expanded over time, and today, the cluster is also involved in implementing the sector’s industrial policy (industrial innovation and research, training, support for business growth, etc.).Job PurposeAs part of implementing its strategic priorities, BioWin aims to enhance its strategy and leverage its expertise to effectively support its members in the following areas of expertise:Digital Health and Health Data, ATMP, Radiopharma Medical Devices. These fields are among the top priority sectors in the 2023-2026 strategy of the BioWin competitiveness cluster. To enhance self-financing strategies, BioWin has established the role of Head of Sales & Marketing to help achieve its strategic objectives.Your roleAs Head of Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in driving BioWin’s growth and visibility. Working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will define and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with the cluster’s objectives and the dynamics of the biopharma/radiopharma ecosystem, both in Wallonia and internationally.You will serve as a key liaison between the executive team (CEO/COO), internal teams, members, and institutional and industrial partners. In this capacity, you will embody BioWin’s ambition: to foster innovation, strengthen collaboration among stakeholders, enhance the ecosystem’s visibility, and support the sector’s sustainable growth.This strategic position offers significant autonomy and a direct impact on the cluster’s development.Your ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & CoordinationLead, unite, and develop the Marketing, Communication & Business Development team (3 to 4 people) in a culture of trust, autonomy, and innovation.Ensure smooth communication and alignment of actions across departments, particularly with the R&D team.Promote a culture focused on collective performance, results, and continuous improvement.Strategic Planning & Business DevelopmentCo-develop with the executive team the strategic vision for business development, member acquisition and retention, and the management of national and international partnerships.Anticipate member needs by offering innovative and tailored services to strengthen engagement.Represent BioWin at events, conferences, and international missions, building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.Marketing, Communication & VisibilityDesign and lead the marketing and communication strategy: multichannel campaigns, scientific storytelling, institutional communication.Increase BioWin’s visibility among scientific, industrial, institutional, and media audiences.Organize and oversee national and international events (conferences, workshops, missions) to enhance ecosystem attractiveness.Project Management & Operational OversightManage administrative, budgetary, and reporting aspects related to business development, marketing, and events.Identify new growth levers: self-financing, service offerings, strategic partnerships.Ensure all initiatives are aligned with BioWin’s overall strategy.Your ProfileEducationScientific degree (biotechnology, pharmacy, life sciences, etc.) complemented by specialization in marketing, communication, management, or business development.ExperienceAt least 10 years in senior roles involving strategic marketing, business development, and institutional communication, ideally within the life sciences sector (biotech, pharma, healthtech…).Proven experience in managing international projects, building and leading partnerships, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.Strong background in institutional representation and participation in international missions.Key SkillsStrong leadership and ability to mobilize teams.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English.Strategic thinking and deep understanding of innovation, growth, and partnership challenges in the life sciences.Proficiency in digital tools, content marketing, and sectoral intelligence techniques.What We OfferA stimulating, innovative, and human-centered work environment.A strategic role at the heart of a transforming ecosystem.A real opportunity to make a lasting impact on health and society through the advancement of scientific innovation.
