This role plays an essential role in driving the strategic position of BESydney with media, Government and industry stakeholders and is critical to building BESydney’s external reputation.What this role involves:Develop and implement the external affairs strategy, which includes communications, stakeholders and government plansEnhance BESydney's corporate profile and reputation in the international, NSW and national communitiesEnsures BESydney has a strong media and digital presenceRespond to media, government and industry enquiriesMaintain strong relationships with journalists, social media creators, government and other stakeholdersDevelop and deliver a clear and consistent external affairs narrative to be used across appropriate channelsIdentifying the best channels and markets to deliver BESydney messagingProduce and deliver quality content, information and insights to be shared with the broader BESydney team using effective systems, processes, tools, resources.Shift the organisation's profile beyond traditional tourism trade media to industry, academic and mainstream media. Identify and seize business opportunities that may bring significant economic benefits. Lead and develop a high performing teamMore about you:On day one, we expect you to have:Tertiary qualifications or equivalent 10+ years' experience in communications, journalism, business or associated discipline. Experience in public relations and communications, including the development, implementation and evaluation of external affairs and media strategies. A strong media, communications and government network. Experience in advocacy, stakeholder management and/or campaigning.Ability to make executive-level decisions within a fast-paced environment. Experience working in cross-functional teams and an ability to influence peersSuperior written and verbal communication skills.
