Job Description – Head of Marketing & Sales Role Overview The Head of Marketing & Sales will be a visionary, dynamic leader responsible for driving local and global readership and revenue for our portfolio of comic books, graphic novels, and related merchandise. This role requires a blend of creative marketing expertise, commercial acumen, and an understanding of the comic book industry, pop culture, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) e-commerce channels. The successful candidate will craft and execute strategies to grow both the print and digital customer base, maximise sell-through with retailers, distributors and build our brand into a strong, recognisable brand identity. Our mission is to grow a loyal readership and establish our comics as the leading title locally and globally.Key Responsibilities Sales Strategy & Execution● Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-channel marketing and sales strategy to achieve aggressive growth targets for existing intellectual properties (IPs).● Secure and manage partnerships with comic retailers, bookstores, and distributors.● Expand digital sales through platforms such as Amazon, ComiXology, Webtoon, Tapas, and the company’s own e-commerce site.● Negotiate and manage local, international distribution and licensing opportunities.● Track and forecast sales performance, ensuring growth against targets.Marketing & Promotion● Create, Execute and Oversee marketing campaigns to promote new titles, story arcs, and creators.● Lead digital and fan engagement through SEO, SEM, social media, email/newsletters, influencer outreach, and conventions (Comic-Con, MCM, etc.) to drive traffic and conversion to our social channels, e-commerce platform and website.● Build and maintain relationships with the press, content creators, and reviewers in the comic, gaming, animation and pop culture community.● Oversee brand identity, ensuring all promotional content aligns with the IP & company’s creative vision.● Utilize data-driven insights to refine audience targeting and campaign performance.Retail & Community Engagement● Develop programs to strengthen relationships with comic shops and retailers (pre-order campaigns, exclusive variants, retailer incentives).● Organise and promote signing events, launch parties, and convention appearances.● Drive direct-to-consumer sales through the company’s website and online store.● Negotiate and execute sales programs, promotions, and placement agreements to maximize unit sales and shelf presence.● Analyze sales data, market trends, and competitive activity to identify new revenue streams, geographic expansion opportunities, and pricing strategies. Leadership & Collaboration● Lead and mentor a small marketing and sales team, fostering a culture of creativity, data-driven decision-making, and commercial excellence.● Collaborate closely with editorial, design, and production teams to align creative and commercial goals.● Create the budget for marketing campaigns, sales initiatives, and promotional activities.● Prepare monthly and quarterly sales reports and present growth strategies to senior management.● Liaise with the wider team to ensure marketing efforts support adjacent business lines (e.g., animation, film, sports, merchandise).Qualifications and ExperienceRequired:● 3-5 years of progressive experience in marketing and sales with a management role.● Demonstrable experience within the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), Publishing, Entertainment, Gaming, or Pop Culture industries.● Proven track record of significantly growing revenue and brand presence through both traditional retail and digital channels (DTC/e-commerce).● Strong financial acumen and experience managing departmental budget and P&L responsibilities.● Passion for storytelling, comics, and building fan communities.Key Skills/Competencies.● Strategic Vision: Ability to translate creative IP into viable, market-leading commercial strategies.● Negotiation Skills: Excellence in securing favorable terms with distribution partners and key retailers.● Data Analysis: Proficiency in using sales data, consumer metrics, and digital analytics to inform decision-making.● Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for managing external partners and internal creative teams.What We Offer.● Competitive salary and performance-based incentives.● Opportunity to shape the sales and marketing strategy of the company.● Creative, supportive, and collaborative work environment.● Access to conventions, creator networks, and industry events.If you are a results-oriented leader with a passion for storytelling and a vision for growing a brand, please submit your resume and cover letter or send an email to info@taepsstudios.com
