About MagnafireMagnafire is an end-to-end creative studio producing bold, culturally fluent social video content for outdoor, sport, retail and wellness brands. We use AI to speed up pre-pro, and to sharpen post. Craft leads; AI accelerates.Role OverviewYou’ll run efficient, on-brand shoots for marquee clients (e.g., lululemon, Arc’teryx, Red Bull). This is a hands-on role: directing in the field, build shot lists and pre-vis/decks, manage gear, and coordinate crews from 2–15+, collaborating closely with clients and our internal team. You’ll also shape creative pitches and lead client discovery as needed, grow our freelancer network, and partner with the Head of Post-Production for smooth handoffs. This role involves some shooting on location in the mountains; hiking capabilities and backcountry knowledge a key asset.Compensation & EmploymentEmployment Type: Full-time, on-site (East Vancouver)Salary Range: $80,000 – $100,000 base + bonus eligibilityVacation & Leave: 3 weeks paid vacation; paid sick daysTime-in-Lieu: Occasional pre/post-hours on-set work is required. Approved OT hours may be banked as time-in-lieu for extra paid days off.Hours: Mon–Fri, 9–5; on-set as needed (some mornings/evenings/weekends)What you’ll doDirect on location; sometimes operate camera; manage crews and represent Magnafire with clientsShoot in the mountains, urban areas, and in-studio.Run internal kickoffs; set the production budget, timeline, and owner for each task.Co-lead creative pitches; develop shot lists, pre-vis, and client-ready decksBuild and maintain tight documentation (call sheets, one-liners, budgets)Manage a vetted roster of freelancers and vendorsCoordinate handoff with Post (assets, directors notes)Lead client discovery to clarify goals, KPIs, timelines, and scopeContinuously improve social-first craftLeverage AI in pre-pro to compress time on treatments, shot plans, pre-vis, and storyboard frames (tasteful, on-brand outputs only).What success looks like (first 12 months)Client satisfaction: Avg. ≥ 9/10 on post-project surveysOn-time delivery: 95% of projects delivered on schedule to post handoffBudget accuracy: ≤ ±5% variance on 90% of productionsProduction volume: 40+ shoot days/yearCreative pitch success: ≥ 75% client approval on concepts leading to signed productionDiscovery/roadmaps: Lead ≥ 50% of new-client Discovery sessions & Social Content Roadmap decksAI adoption: Quarterly AI workflow check ins; ≥ 80% of eligible projects use at least one approved AI assist.What you’ll bring8+ years in video production, including on-set directing, shooting, and producingProven experience leading client-facing productions from concept through shootDeep platform fluency (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube/Shorts) and social-first storytellingStrong knowledge of camera systems, lighting, and production gear3+ years at a creative agency/production company or running a creative businessTrack record building/managing freelance crew and vendorsExcellent organizational and budgeting skills (Sheets/Excel, call sheets, schedules)Comfortable moving between aspect ratios and social-native formatsPractical AI fluency across pre-pro (treatment drafting, research, storyboard frames)Valid driver’s license and can travel to shoots in the regionOur POV on AI Craft first.
