Job Description

Head of Projects - Chessington FAFS Fire & Security specialise in designing, installing, commissioning and servicing automatic Fire Detection, Protection and Alarm Systems in and around Greater London. We are currently looking to appoint a new Head of Projects to be based out of our Head Office in Chessington, Surrey.Reporting directly to FAFS Managing Director, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of fire and security projects.As part of the FAFS Senior Leadership Team, you will work alongside all FAFS departments and management to maintain fluid, effective and where possible standardised and improved processes which will facilitate our strategic growth.Key ResponsibilitiesManaging the day to day project operations and oversee a team of project managers, installers and commissioning engineers to ensure high standards of work and customer satisfactionDevelop and maintain the relationship between sales and project management with the sales manager and managing director including the development of the ‘Sales to Operations' Contract Handover and Technical Review process to ensure effective mobilisation, management and successful completion of projectsChampion and maintain high levels of good communication throughout the department and our customersManage the compliant and safe use of sub-contractors, which will include quality, health and safety surveillance audits to ensure the company workmanship, health and safety standards are maintainedManage and maintain our supply chain, which will include the onboarding of subcontractors onto our ‘Approved Subcontractors List' and the removal of those that fail to meet our quality standards and/or fail to comply with our terms and conditions of sale, including any project specific conditions that may applyIdentifying, manage and mitigate risks to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and codes of practice and work with stakeholders to ensure commercial risk is managed to the lowest possible levelsDeliver the required reports as requested by the Managing Director and Financial Controllers for forecasting and board reportingSelect and manage the provision and completion of the appropriate training for project teamsWork with the Head of Preconstruction and Design and the design team to ensure that all designs, technical information, design standards, support and solutions are delivered to standard and timescales, including the production design, installation, verification, commissioning, acceptance and handover certification, as well as operation and maintenance manualsCollaborate with the senior leadership team and other department heads to provide continuous improvement and efficiency of processes and proceduresRatification of design proposals developed from issued specification and drawingsImprovement of system design proposals that deliver improved and simpler performance at equal or reduced costsContinual assessment of industry, manufacturers and competitors to benchmark our service and deliveryProduction of specific technical submissions and project proposalsUtilise information from industry partners to develop and improve system designs, installations and delivery to clients to improve and better system functionality, operation and cost of deliveryRequirementsWho We're Looking ForEnergy, Drive and EnthusiasmAbility to work collaboratively with peers at all levels Exceptional communication, organisational and leadership skills, combined with attention to detailAbility to persuade, influence and challenge in a constructive manner and identify appropriate solutionsCommercial awareness and analytically biasedERP system and process knowledgeExceptional IT skills, particularly Microsoft OfficeProject Management experience Strong data analysis skills Strong understanding of the fire and security market, its products and customer requirementsAdaptable/FlexibleStrong desire to succeedPassion for excellence and innovation in pursuit of business growth and successBenefitsHow we Attract, Reward & Retain Our EmployeesAt FAFS Fire & Security we recognise the importance of fairly rewarding our employees.
