Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of health and wellbeing worker on Churchill ward at the Harbour!This role will involve working with adult male mental health inpatients to support them with accessing meaningful activity during their admissions. Examples of this may be around supporting patients to access the gym and sports hall, taking patients jogging, leading on art and craft groups on the ward, etc.It is expected that the right person for the job will have the skills to work both autonomously and as part of the wider ward team. You will be supported by colleagues on the ward, as well as the wider occupational therapy team who will provide support and guidance.This can be a challenging role, but a very rewarding role for the right person.Supporting patients to access meaningful activity both on and off the ward, often leading on 1:1 and group sessions. These may include access to sports hall and exercise opportunities, as well as cooking groups, art and craft groups, gardening groups, etc.At times you may also be required to support with meal times, supporting patients on enhanced levels of observations and supporting patients to attend appointments and with periods of escorted leave off the ward.Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust provides a range of services including secondary mental health care across this area.
