Hedge Fund Sector Specialist - Financials

About The RoleWe are seeking a Financials Sector Specialist to join our investment team. As a Sector Specialist within the Equity Relative Value (EqRV) strategy, you will be responsible for generating trade ideas within the Financials (banking, brokers, insurance, credit cards, fin-tech) sector for our fund. EqRV is a market-neutral, pairs trading strategy that requires deep expertise within the sector. You will use your expertise in modeling and trading these stocks to curate the most profitable trades for our funds. You will be expected to conduct thorough research and build financial models to support your analysis of market trends, financial statements, and economic data, thereby identifying potential pair trades. Your fundamental research and ideas will be enhanced by our proprietary pairs analysis process to lend validation to the most profitable opportunities for our investors. You will be supported by a world-class trading desk with over 31 years of experience with relative value pairs trading. You will report directly to the CIO, and your investment ideas will be critical in making informed investment decisions for our funds.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related fieldMust have 4+ years of experience modeling large-cap Financials sector stocks (banks, brokerage, insurance) for a bulge bracket brokerage firm or a hedge fundExperience in the Financials sector, expertise in economic policies and regulations affecting banksStrong analytical and quantitative skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently, but also to collaborate and share your banking industry expertise with the team.This position is full-time in the office, in Dallas, TexasPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in finance, economics, or a related fieldCFA or other relevant certificationsExperience with financial modeling and data analysis softwareStrong track record of successful investment recommendationsResponsibilitiesGenerating trade ideas within the Financials sector for inclusion in our fundsBuild financial models of all stocks in the sector, evaluate market trends and economic data to determine the viability of potential investmentsCollaborate with the CIO and other Sector Specialist to develop investment ideas around current trends and themesMonitor and report on the performance of investments in the sectorStay up to date with industry news and trends to inform investment decisionsSkillsMust have a passion for investments and be able to demonstrate experience and expertise within the Financials (especially banking) sector. Strong analytical and quantitative skills are expected. Experience with financial modeling and data analysis software is necessary, as is a strong track record of successful investment recommendations. Preference will be given to those candidates who submit a cover letter detailing their sector expertise within the Financials sector.
