Shelter Site WorkerPurpose: The purpose of this position is to support the operation of the winter shelter site and support to people experiencing homelessness who are utilizing the shelter service.Responsibilities: Support the operation of the winter shelter site and to help meet the needs of persons experiencing homelessness who are staying at the shelter.This position is responsible for the tasks involved in operating the winter shelter site, including:Setting up and breaking down the shelter site daily, including placement of mats/cots, cleaning of mats/cots, moving and inventorying shelter supplies, etcAssisting with the shelter intake processes, including data collection and data entry into the County’s Homeless Management Information System (HMIS)Assisting with the coordination of transportation services to and/or from the shelter siteServing and distributing food to shelter guestsSupporting the Shelter Site Lead, Shelter Director and relevant partners in shelter guest de-escalation and other client engagement efforts, as neededAlong with the Shelter Site Lead and Shelter Director, working to creating a welcome environment for all shelter guestsQualifications:Ability to:Follow and implement requests received from supervisor with little or no supervisionAdapt to change, negotiate compromise and tolerate ambiguityBuild effective relationships with others who can help with work related goalsBe sensitive in human interactions to diversity inclusivenessLift up to 50 poundsSchedule: Position to begin November 18 through Mid-MarchAvailable for five shifts per weekThe shelter will be open seven days per week.
