Find out for yourself as we are currently looking for an HR Generalist for our Maibec CanExel siding plant in East River, Nova Scotia which is conveniently located between the beautiful communities of Hubbards and Chester.We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing HR functions, supporting talent acquisition, employee relations, and HRIS systems. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to organizational growth through effective HR strategies, change management initiatives, and comprehensive employee support. The Human Resources Generalist will be instrumental in ensuring compliance with HR policies and fostering a positive workplace culture.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:As an HR Generalist, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive and productive workplace. Your responsibilities will include:Be a Trusted Partner - Collaborate with supervisors and managers to provide practical solutions for workplace challenges and drive positive outcomes.Lead Investigations & Employee Relations - Assist with inquiries related to employee concerns, performance issues, and other matters, ensuring fairness and confidentiality.Support Labor Relations - Help administer the collective bargaining agreement and maintain strong relationships with union representatives.Manage Disability & Accommodation Programs - Coordinate disability management processes, including return-to-work plans and workplace accommodations, to support employee well-being and compliance.Leverage HR Technology - Use HR systems to compile, analyze, and prepare reports that inform decision-making and workforce strategies. Support implementation of new HR Technologies or systems to improve efficiency.Drive Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning - Manage job postings, recruitment processes, and planning to attract and retain top talent.Onboard & Develop Talent - Coordinate and deliver engaging orientation programs, training sessions, and educational initiatives.Grow Our Employer Brand - Develop and implement strategies that showcase our culture and make us an employer of choice.Support Immigration & Relocation - Utilize immigration programs to fill key roles and assist newcomers in Administer Benefits Programs - Ensure employees understand their options and administer the plan.Protect Confidentiality - Handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion and professionalism.Champion Compliance & Corporate Programs - Ensure adherence to company policies and support initiatives that foster a safe, respectful, and compliant work environment.Adapt & Contribute - Take on additional HR responsibilities as needed to support the success of the team and organization.JOB REQUIREMENTS:Dynamic and outgoing personalityAbility to see a task through from start to finish and hold yourself accountable for deliverables while managing multiple competing demandsSelf-starter with excellent problem-solving skills, dedicated to bringing new ideas and perspectivesVery strong computer skills Knowledge of industrial work settings and with a unionized workforce considered an assetBilingual in French and English considered an assetAbility and willingness to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when in designated areas, including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and other PPE as required by company policy and safety regulations.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources Management, or related field5 years’ related HR work experience or any equivalent combination of experience and education that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this positionWORK ENVIRONMENT:Office environment with time spent in manufacturing plant environmentMaibec CanExel offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits and programs including group insurance, pension, career mobility and more. We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
