Canadian SR&ED is looking for a part-time HR Manager to support our growing team and build strong people processes across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, hands-on HR professional who enjoys both strategy and day-to-day operations.Work Schedule: 20 hours per week, spread over 3 daysStart Date: January 5, 2026Location: Calgary, AlbertaAbout the RoleReporting to the President, the HR Manager will oversee the full HR lifecycle, including people operations, recruitment, onboarding, compliance, payroll support, performance management, and employee engagement.Key Responsibilities:People Operations & Administration- Maintain and update the employee master database.- Manage personnel files with strict confidentiality.- Track attendance, vacation, overtime, and time-off balances.- Prepare HR letters and documentation.- Maintain an up-to-date organizational chart and headcount tracker.- Serve as first point of contact for HR-related employee inquiries.Recruitment & Onboarding- Develop and maintain job descriptions.- Post positions and manage candidate pipeline.- Screen resumes and coordinate interviews.- Prepare offer letters, employment contracts, and NDAs.- Coordinate background checks and onboarding.Policies, Compliance & Documentation- Maintain HR policies and employee handbooks.- Ensure compliance with employment laws and CRA requirements.- Organize and digitize HR documentation.Payroll & Compensation Support- Support payroll by ensuring accurate data submission to the payroll service provider by validating attendance, hours, commissions, bonuses, and deductions.- Verify payroll data against employment contracts and commission trackers.- Prepare Payroll data and obtain approval before submission to the payroll service provider.- Distribution of pay slips securely (through third party online system or encrypted PDF).- Coordinate with finance, payroll service provider and service Canada.- Maintain compensation records.- Administer employee benefits (health plan enrollment, renewals, terminations, inquiries).- Ensure commission and referral partner payments are properly documented and approved.Performance Management- Support performance review cycles and goal-setting processes.- Assist managers with performance documentation.- Maintain records of evaluations and development plans. Employee Relations & Engagement- Act as a trusted point of contact for employees.- Support engagement activities and culture initiatives.- Manage exit interviews, analyze turnover data and recommend improvements.- Organize employee engagement activities: events, celebrations, wellness programs.- Manage internal communications (announcements. Updates, HR newsletters).Strategic HR Planning & Governance- Provide HR insights and data to leadership.- Maintain contractors/service providers records and manage year end submissions.- Manage compliance processes.Health, Safety & Well-Being- Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.- Support wellness initiatives.What You Bring- 5+ years of progressive HR experience.- Understanding of Canadian employment practices.- Experience in recruitment, HR admin, payroll, and employee relations.- High discretion and confidentiality.- Strong organizational and communication skills.
