DescriptionPosition: IT/Communications Intern to support MedEd & COMS-AOrganization: Consortium of Medical Schools-Africa (COMS-A)Duration: 6 monthsReporting to: COMS-A Director Background: About COMS-A& MedEd The Consortium of Medical Schools in Africa (COMS-A) is a collaborative network of medical schools across Africa committed to strengthening medical education, research, and health workforce development on the continent. COMS-A works to promote collaboration, innovation, and excellence in health professions education through joint programs, capacity building, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships.The Medical Education (MedEd) Africa Conference is an annual conference dedicated to strengthening medical education across Africa by connecting local knowledge with global expertise . Its work focuses on advancing innovative approaches to healthcare training that respond to the continent’s evolving health needs and contribute to improved healthcare outcomes. This year, it will take place from July 6-8, 2026 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.As COMS-A & MedEd continues to expand its digital presence and engagement with member institutions, there is a growing need for dedicated support in IT services, website management, and digital communications. Purpose of the Internship COMS-A seeks an IT & Communications Intern to support its digital infrastructure, online platforms, and social media presence. The intern will contribute to maintaining an effective and professional online presence while supporting basic IT and web-related needs of the Secretariat. This internship provides hands-on experience in IT support, web maintenance, and digital content management within a pan-African academic and professional network. Scope of Work / What COMS-A Is Looking For COMS-A Is Looking For a Motivated Intern Who Can Support The Organization In The Following Key Areas Across Both COMS-A And MedEd Africa Channels IT & Communication Support Provide basic IT and web desk support to the COMS-A SecretariatAssist with troubleshooting minor technical and website-related issuesSupport digital file organization and system updates Website Maintenance Assist with updating and maintaining the COMS-A websiteUpload and edit content (news, events, documents, images, and links)Ensure website content is accurate , up to date, and aligned with COMS-A brandingSupport basic improvements to website structure and usability Social Media Content Creation and Management Support the creation of social media content (text, visuals, and basic graphics)Schedule and publish content on COMS-A social media platformsAssist in monitoring engagement and maintaining consistent online activitySupport campaigns, announcements, and visibility of COMS-A programs and events Digital Communication Support Assist in preparing digital materials for meetings, events, and announcementsSupport online forms, links, and digital application processes where needed Expected Deliverables Updated and regularly maintained COMS-A websiteConsistent social media content and posting scheduleTimely support for IT and web desk needsOrganized and up-to-date digital content and files Required Qualifications and Skills Holding a bachelor’s degree in Information Technology , Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, Communications, or a related field .Basic knowledge of website management (e.g., CMS platforms)Familiarity with social media platforms and digital content toolsBasic IT troubleshooting skillsStrong attention to detail and ability to follow branding guidelinesGood communication skills and ability to work in a teamStrong written and oral EnglishInterest in health education, academic networks, or digital communications is an added advantage Learning Opportunities The Intern Will GainPractical experience working with a continental academic consortiumExposure to digital communications in health and medical educationSkills in website management, IT support, and social media engagementProfessional experience working with diverse institutions across Africa Duty Station The internship will be based in Kigali, Rwanda.How to ApplyApplicants should provide: (1) curriculum vitae, (2) Degree, (3) A cover letter describing your interest in UGHE and relevant experience.
