IT Project Manager – Lead the rollout of a new shared services platform for South Africa’s leading private EdTech institution – Cape Town, R70K per month

An excellent opportunity for an experienced IT Project Manager to take full ownership of implementing a new shared services platform for one of South Africa’s most established private tertiary education providers. This role will see you managing multiple technology workstreams, integrating systems across departments, and ensuring the delivery of a scalable, high-performance IT ecosystem that supports the college’s long-term growth strategy.This IT Project Manager role is based in Cape Town and offers a salary of R70K per month.THE COMPANY:This leading private tertiary education college has over 4,000 students across its four campuses in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Durban, as well as a thriving online division. With a 27-year heritage, it is known for delivering accredited qualifications that are recognised globally.The college operates a wide range of technology systems across its business including marketing, student recruitment, finance, HR, administration, academics, and teaching & learning, now consolidating these into a unified, modern shared services platform to improve efficiency and integration.THE ROLE:As the IT Project Manager, you will lead the full lifecycle of the shared services platform implementation, from initial planning and stakeholder engagement through to delivery, change management, and post-deployment optimisation.You will be responsible for building detailed project plans, securing resources, managing budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring milestones are met on time and within scope. Approximately 70% of this role will focus on strategic delivery and execution, while the remaining 30% will involve financial oversight, vendor management, and team leadership.You will work closely with internal teams and third-party providers to ensure seamless collaboration, clear accountability, and consistent progress reporting. A key part of your mandate will be driving process improvement, ensuring project quality standards are met, and embedding best practices in project governance and delivery across the IT function.THE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or Business (or equivalent experience)6+ years’ experience managing enterprise-level IT projectsExperience leading IT or shared services projects spanning multiple departmentsProven success delivering ICT projects with budgets exceeding R2 millionExperience managing cross-functional teams (5+ people) and third-party technology providersProficiency in project management methodologies such as PMBOK or Agile (SAFe preferred)Certification in project management (PMI, PRINCE2, or Agile) and PMI membership advantageousStrong planning, analytical, and stakeholder management skills with excellent communication and facilitation ability
