Role Purpose:As directed by the firm and legal council and or any delegated person from the firm, succeful candidate will be expected to execute legal instructions and mandate in the sub-office.Key Performance Areas:Assisst Senior Attorney/s in the firm as may be required with processing and preparing for matters and or appearance. Attend to court appearnces. Serving of and filing as needed on behalf of the firm.Attend to meetings, clients, general administration of files.Drafting of pleadings, reports, letters, briefs to advocates, memoranda to attorneys, PAIA applications and other legal correspondence. Contribution to assessment of legal strategy and approaches to strategic impact litigation. Research on draft legislation, policy and relevant obligations and duties related to a case assigned to you by your senior and drafting prelimary submissions where required. Perfome in – house legal duties which include vetting of article relied upon on cases. and Perform other adhoc duties as assigned by direct supervisor and Management from time to time within reason.Qualifications and Experience IndicatorRequirements:Must have complated Matric and LLB Degree as mandatory requirement. Must have completed Articles is mandatory required.Must have a right of appearance in the High Court is mandatory requiredExperience in 3rd party claims, general litigation is mandatory requiredDriver’s license and own car is an essential requirement. Attributes, technical and Behavioral Skills desired: Attention to detail and high level of accuracy as a demonstrable skill is required.Demonstrable written and verbal English, Afrikaans and any other South African language is required.Good knowledge of Court ProcessKnowledge of Microsoft Suite Great communication and coordination skills.Demonstrable ability to work independently, take initiative, and follow through on outstanding matters/task.Ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to rapidly changing environments is and legislative changes as desired; Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work on multiple tasks will be critical.High level of professionalism and emotional intelligenceAbility to build trust, respect and managing confidentiality internaly within the firm and externaly when dealing with clients.Service oriented attitude and drive for resultsBe willing to work overtime sometimes if the need arises in the organization.Please Note: When applying, please state Junior Attorney JHB on the subject line for ease of reference.If you have not heard from us after 2 weeks of applying, please consider your application to be unsuccessful.
