Louth - HybridHours of Work: 37.5 hours weeklyJob OverviewWe are seeking a motivated and technically curious individual to join our Database Engineering team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in Microsoft SQL Server, both on-premises and in the cloud, along with exposure to Azure data services such as Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, and Cosmos DB.You’ll work closely with senior DBAs, developers, and analysts to maintain, monitor, and enhance our database estate across on-premises and cloud environments. If you’re passionate about data, scripting, and continuous learning, we’d love to hear from you.Main Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day support and administration of SQL Server and Azure-based databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, performance tuning, backups, restores, and deployments with 24x7 on-call availability as neededCollaborate with development and operations teams to deliver resilient, performant, and secure database solutionsEnsure database environment is secure, healthy, reliably backed up, and ready for all contingenciesEnsure the environment meets high availability, recovery, and compliance standardsMonitor database health and respond to alerts using a variety of monitoring toolsParticipate in database capacity planning and forecastingPerform ongoing patching of our database estateSupport data migration and integration efforts, including ETL processesContribute to automation and scripting efforts, particularly with PowerShell, T-SQL or equivalentMaintain thorough documentation of configuration, procedures, and best practicesEssential CriteriaA degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience) 1 to 3 years of experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise environmentPreferably, experience with the Azure cloud data platform, including some of: Azure SQL DatabaseAzure SQL Managed InstanceCosmos DBAzure Data FactoryPower BISynapseExperience automating routine tasks using scripting tools such as PowerShell/T-SQLStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailDesirable CriteriaAbility to remain focused and positive when managing competing priorities or tight deadlinesComfortable working independently and as part of a global, cross-functional teamEffective communication skills, both verbal and writtenEmployee BenefitsPension SchemeHealthcare SchemeLife AssuranceEmployee Health and Wellbeing Initiatives Enhanced Annual Leave 24/7 Employee Assistance ProgrammeEnhanced Maternity/Paternity LeaveSocial ClubFree carparking
