Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Junior Estimator should have a foundational, working knowledge of building materials and understand the requirements for various construction projects. They will focus on non-self-performing work, interacting with subcontractors for bids. This position assists Estimators in the preconstruction process to gather information and data.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 2 – 5 years of estimating experience in commercial, heavy industrial, or civil constructionBachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering; Or equivalent experience Currently living in the St. Louis metro areaKnowledge of estimating and scheduling software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, etc) and proficiency in MicroSoft Word systemsJOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Operate with an understanding of the project demands and needed resources to handle non-self-performing workWork with subcontractors to send bid invites and review bids receivedMaintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractorsConduct research to obtain data and gather information on costsCollect metrics, review documents, and assist with building a timelineCollect key construction documents, such as property plans, blueprints, technical drawings, and project specificationsAssist in communications with suppliers, contractors, vendors, and materials for projectsMake visits to construction sites, warehouses, and other such venues to gather insights about the projectAssist in developing a work schedule for project completionAssist with material takeoff and apply current pricing knowledgeBuild relationships and maintain a directory of vendors, suppliers, and contractorsWork with key personnel, including engineers, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and business ownersStay up to date with building codes and industry trendsCOMPENSATION: Starting at $70,000 annually.
