Our team members embrace and embody our core values: Work Hard, Embrace the Stretch, Be Authentic, Embrace Curiosity and Grow as Individuals and as a Team.POSITION PURPOSE:The Senior Writer is responsible for developing and producing original content for Greentarget’s clients, working with other members of Greentarget’s award-winning Content & Editorial Team and collaborating with members of the Media Relations and Research & Market Intelligence teams.PRIMARY OUTCOMES:Demonstrate leadership among the Associate team: Inspire, develop and encourage others. Lead by example. Listen well and build on the strengths of each individual.Direct and oversee the writing work of intern, Junior Associate and Associate team members, providing leadership, guidance, editing and constructive feedback.Maintain a solid understanding of clients’ goals and business priorities in order to contribute to the strategic and creative development of tactical content programming.Be an active reader of the news and proactively follow the news stories most important to Greentarget’s clients.Independently drive content work for clients from initial request through final deliverable, including leading planning calls, crafting thought leader call agendas, developing angles, answering client questions and maintaining project timelines.Conceive, develop, produce and deliver journalistic content for Greentarget clients, including articles, op-ed columns, blog posts and white papers.Lead interview-style story development sessions with clients, emerging with story ideas that speak to important audience concerns and bolster the client’s expertise.Draft and produce press releases, award entries, social media posts and other content regularly requested by clients.Play a key role in developing Greentarget-owned content, including blog posts, web copy and firm bios.Develop content for high-quality research reports, messaging platforms and related projects in conjunction with Greentarget’s Research & Market Intelligence and Media Relations teams.Regularly report project updates to project leaders and identify ways to advance ongoing initiatives for clients.Demonstrate an understanding of budget parameters, identifying and raising personal over/underservicing on a timely basis.Participate in account brainstorming sessions, contributing media-savvy ideas to plans and recommending initiatives that improve the public’s perception of clients.Join client calls and meetings, including regular update conversations, story planning meets and reporting discussions, providing notes and recaps as needed.Demonstrate Greentarget’s Client Engagement Process and the Greentarget Way in client work.Deliberately and demonstrably contribute to Greentarget’s administrative and business priorities via provided paths (e.g., operational teams, pro bono work, blog content, networking events).Contribute to Greentarget’s diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging efforts.JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:Excellent writing skills and the ability to express complicated ideas and information in an accessible, compelling manner.Strong verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and planning skills.Strong knowledge of online/digital media platforms.Familiarity with AP style.Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in time-critical situations.Solid understanding of business, ability to quickly gain fluency on diverse business topics and abiding curiosity about how business works.Consistent coaching and leadership of junior team members.Track record of consistently meeting deadlines, demonstrating ownership of assignments and recommending amplification of assigned work.Ability to manage up and down and seek assistance when appropriate.Ability to build rapport, work effectively and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and with all levels of the organization, as well as to work independently.Commitment to handling requests with professionalism and diplomacy.Highly self-motivated, resourceful and detail oriented.Flexibility and comfort working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Embrace of hybrid work expectations and behaviors.Demonstrates Greentarget’s values: hardworking, authentic, intellectually curious, supportive of teammates and challenge-seeking.EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Two to five years of experience in journalism or public relations (with a heavy writing emphasis).Two to four years of client service experience, preferably in an agency setting.Computer literacy, including fluency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Data visualization, audio editing, social media strategy and SEO/GEO tools experience a plus.
