Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Laboratory Manager to join our team in Singapore. This role is crucial in maintaining our accreditations and quality management system through effective equipment management, metrological traceability, and quality assurance/control of laboratory processes and testing.He/She will work closely with the Operations Director and Quality team to maintain ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation, demonstrating our technical competency and commitment to providing consistently valid results.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam ManagementSet clear objectives, monitor progress, and provide regular feedbackConduct performance reviews and identify areas for development or improvementPrioritize tasks and ensure alignment with company or project goalsServe as the main point of contact between the lab team and managementFoster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team cultureLab OperationsOversee day-to-day activities and manage a team to ensure smooth, safe, and cost-effective lab operationsUpkeep and monitor lab conditions to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulationsManage licenses and ensure safe operation and maintenance of equipment in the labHandle procurement of lab equipment and consumables, as well as replenishment of laboratories suppliesMonitor, manage and report budget usage for the laboratory and assist in financial reporting and budget projections and planningPlan, coordinate and perform calibration, troubleshoot equipment performance issues, as well as liaising with external service providersQuality & SafetyMaintain quality assurance procedures and the quality management system in compliance with ISO/IEC 17025:2017Perform internal audits, address non-conformities, and support the lab in maintaining accreditation statusManage lab safety, enforce safety rules, and ensure compliance with safety regulationsConduct safety orientation for new employeesServe as First Aider, Fire Warden, Spill Responder, Safety Committee memberQualification & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Material Science, Materials, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant experienceKnowledge on local regulatory requirements (SCDF, NEA, MOM, etc) preferredExperience and knowledge in risk management, workplace safety and healthExperience in procurement and budget management to facilitate budget preparationExperience in Emergency Response Team is a plusKnowledge in ISO/IEC 17020:2012 is a plusKnowledge in Failure Analysis and forensic engineering is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of applicationsSelf-motivated, confident, and capable of working independently as well as leading a team
