Laboratory Technician

The Research Analytical Biochemistry Lab (RABL) at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) seeks highly motivated candidates for a Laboratory Technician position, to work alongside the Marshall Team on research in the areas of cell biology and liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. In collaboration with our industrial partner YYZ Pharmatech Inc, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on the leading questions in healthcare and reveal new insights into disease mechanisms.Projects will require the design of PCR primers with embedded Restriction Enzyme sites for directional (force clone) from a cDNA library and cloning of the amplified sequences into a pcDNA vector in E coli for maxi prep and electroporation for expression in a sceptic mammalian cell culture. Knowledge of Western blot or dot blotting and/or ELISA would be an asset. Knowledge of Laser Confocal microscopy would be an asset. Knowledge of ligand-antibody affinity chromatography would be an asset.The position is for a period of one year, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter.
