Lead Pipeline Commissioning & Operations EngineerPosition OverviewThe Lead Pipeline Commissioning & Operations Engineer is responsible for managing the commissioning, testing, and operational readiness of cross-country pipeline systems in alignment with industry standards and project requirements. The role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to guide field teams while maintaining strict adherence to safety and QA/QC protocols. The candidate must be proficient in reviewing pipeline designs, layouts, diagrams, and flow charts, and coordinating efficiently with various project stakeholders.Key ResponsibilitiesCommissioning & TestingConduct commissioning leak tests and ensure complete and accurate documentation.Perform vacuum leak testing, helium leak testing, and verification procedures.Execute hydrostatic testing, pipeline purging, and pipeline drying.Lead pipeline pigging operations for cleaning, gauging, and inspection readiness.Manage nitrogen pumping, inert gas purging, and nitrogen-related services.Cleaning & Flushing ActivitiesOversee chemical cleaning of pipelines and associated systems.Carry out air blowing, debris removal, and system cleaning activities.Execute pipeline flushing, high-pressure jetting, and cleaning operations.Monitor safe execution of pumping services and fluid transfer operations.Integrity & Safety ManagementManage flange integrity assurance in accordance with quality and safety standards.Ensure compliant chemical and material handling throughout commissioning phases.Maintain strong adherence to industry safety practices, QA/QC requirements, and project procedures.Project Coordination & DocumentationPrepare and deliver progress reports; attend weekly and monthly coordination meetings.Collaborate with project engineers, vendors, contractors, and field teams to meet commissioning milestones.Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during commissioning and testing.Maintain high-quality documentation, including test records, checklists, procedures, and commissioning reports.Key Role FeaturesStrong understanding of commissioning standards, operational practices, and QA/QC requirements.Proven ability to lead and supervise field teams of Engineers and Technicians.Skilled in technical troubleshooting and decision-making during critical phases.Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills.Ability to perform effectively in remote and cross-country pipeline environments.Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and operational excellence.Education & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory).Minimum 10 years of experience in pipeline commissioning.Proven experience in cross-country pipeline projects.Strong background in reviewing designs, layouts, diagrams, and flow charts.
