Are you interested in education and eager to help advance the field?We are looking for a Lecturer in Design for the international Game Design programme at Xamk, starting 1 January 2026 (or as agreed). The position is permanent and full-time, with a probationary period.What does the job involve?As a lecturer in the Culture unit, you will primarily teach and guide students in game design, including areas such as game mechanics, game balancing, player motivation, user experience, and production. You will plan, implement, and develop study modules, supervise individual and group projects for both full-time and online students fostering their creativity and critical thinking. In this role, you will have a concrete impact on the future professionals graduating into the field.You will also have the chance to engage in international projects and teacher exchanges. You will be working closely with fellow teachers in the department that are part of a creative team of over 20 full-time teachers, plus a network of part-time teachers and expert lecturers.Your workplace will be at the Kouvola campus in Finland. We want to support you to continuously update your skills and so we offer the opportunity to complete studies at Xamk’s Open University of Applied Sciences, free of charge.What do we expect from you?The candidate must hold a master’s degree and have a minimum of 3 years of practical work experience in the subject field. In addition, we also require that the candidate has either completed a teaching qualification, or will complete it within 3 years of taking up the post. These requirements are laid out in the Government Decree on Universities of Applied Sciences.To succeed in this position, your background should include expertise in game design, supported by practical experience and up-to-date skills with relevant software and tools. Strong organisational and teamwork skills are highly valued, along with established connections with companies and organisations in the game industry.We also expect you to have a willingness to develop game design education collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders as well as a desire to share your expertise, support and guide students, and collaborate on teaching projects with industry partners.Experience in teaching is an advantage, but not required. We expect you to have an ability teach both on campus and in digital environments. Fluent English skills are required, as the degree programme is conducted in English.What are the steps in the application process?
