Lecturer in Business Law

Job Summary:We are looking for an experienced, passionate Business Law Lecturer who has relevant industry knowledge and has proven track record, to join our academic team to teach and mentor the next generation of Red & Yellow game changers. This is a really exciting opportunity to work with a vibrant Academic team – alongside our marketers, learning designers and programme managers.As a lecturer in your field of expertise, you will take full responsibility for the academic performance and functioning of your programme. You will be required to work closely with the Heads of the Department and the lecturing team to maintain, develop and grow Red &Yellow’s respected programme offering.Key Responsibilities and Duties:This position will require, but is not limited, to the following activities:The convenorship and lecturing of Business Law 3Develop the curriculum for your modules aligned to Red & Yellow’s teaching style, including, but not limited to, lesson planning, tutorial content and planning, tests, assessments and examsAssessment of new student applicationsLecture and conduct tutorials as part of the full-time programme offeringParticipate in the monitoring & evaluation of the academic programme, including attendance and maintenance of student recordsLiaise with academic colleagues/relevant industry contacts to ensure ongoing development and relevanceParticipate in the annual upgrade of programme content, where relevantConduct, marking and moderation processes, participating in internal and external moderation processesParticipate in student application and registration processesParticipate in examination and certification processes and promotion of studentsAttend regular staff meetings and relevant faculty eventsEnsure both hard and electronic filing of all required documentation, including tracking and reporting on at-riskstudentsEnsure all lecturer administration is up to date and relevant deadlines are metParticipate in student grievance & disciplinary sessions, where relevantLecture in accordance with the requirements of the programme outcomes and in accordance with the accreditedprogramme outlinesBenchmarking of programme offerings against other relevant higher education institutionsAdhere to centralised policies and procedures that ensure outstanding quality and unquestionable integrity of allacademic programmes that are offeredAttend relevant marketing activities for the school (i.e. Open days etc.)Qualifications and Experience:An LLB specializing in Commercial Law, LLM preferred.Minimum 5 years teaching experience in a tertiary environmentMinimum 5 years industry experience in the subject areaProfessional registration with the relevant professional bodyHistory of publications (not limited to academic publications)A network of industry or academic professionals to offer students practical and real-world exposureDemonstrated ability to design, develop and deliver an engaging high quality lecturing and supporting learningactivities.Evidence of proactively engaging in ongoing professional development in own subject area and in teaching and learningCurrent registration with the Legal Practice CouncilCommitment to excellence in teaching and to providing the highest quality experience for studentsTechnology savvyAbility to achieve deadlinesBehavioural Attributes and CompetenciesExcellent interpersonal skills and team working skillsStrong communication skills and the ability to lead, command, inspire and contribute to Red & Yellow’s visionA passion to provide an engaging student experienceSelf-driven and motivated with excellent administrative and time management skillsCompetent in Microsoft Office and Google Docs, Spreadsheets and Presentation toolsProven competency in driving collaborative academic-industry initiativesAbility to work as part of a team in a dynamic environmentWe seek to employ creative people who:• embody a growth mindset• are passionate about learning• are adaptable and resilient• are Respectful, Curious and Accountable
