We provide legal advice and support that help our clients achieve the company’s business objectives in a manner that complies with applicable legal and ethical standards. The successful applicant will will fulfil a varied, interesting role in an international, inspiring environment.Legal Counsel in the NetherlandsAs a legal counsel for HPE’s Legal team in the Netherlands, you will deal with a broad variety of legal matters. Due to the huge variety of your legal work, combined with good understanding of the business, you have a great opportunity to further develop both your personal and legal skills as well as to build your career within our global organization.ResponsibilitiesProvide qualified legal support and strategic advice to HPE clients internallyUnderstand and analyze business drivers and technical solutions in order to formulate sound business transactions while assessing the legal risksDraft, review and negotiate various kinds of business agreements and other legal documents, including structuring, negotiating and closing complex deals, occasionally in multi-country transactionsIdentify, analyze and resolve complex legal issues with solution-oriented focus while pragmatically balancing riskAct as Legal Counsel for the Netherlands and on a case-by-case basis also internationallyManage third party disputes and litigation working closely with businessSupport on regulatory and compliance matters, such as anti-corruption, public procurement and competition law, to help prevent non-compliance and mitigate business risks in these areasPromote legal awareness and lead legal training to business teams, managers and team membersCollaborate seamlessly with the wider legal team outside of the Netherlands providing advice and information to other teams such as Ethics & Compliance, Data Privacy, Corporate Affairs, Cybersecurity, HR, Intellectual Property, Litigation Team and CSM&A.Education And Experience RequiredA Master’s degree in Dutch law5 to 7 years of post-qualification commercial legal experiencein a legal department of a multinational company (ideally in the ITC sector )or experience in an (ideally, international) law firm (ideally involved in ICT matters).Experience with contract negotiation and draftingAbility to translate complex legal or factual issues into plain language communicationsBroad and deep knowledge of local/regional laws, regulations, policies, and proceduresNative Dutch speaker and fluency in English (written and spoken)Prior experience in ITC/IP law is a plus, but not essentialInternational legal experience and/or education will be an advantageAffinity with and interested in Information Technology (IT) will be favourably considered.SkillsTo be successful in this role there are a number of personal characteristics we think you must have, being:Strong commercial and business interestExcellent negotiations skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.
